Welcome to H2G2 smiley - smiley

My name's Bistroist and I'm one of the Guide's Assistant Community Editors (ACE's). We're a bunch of volunteers who roam this place trying to be as nice and helpful as possible, and meet and greet as many newcomers as we can.
If there's something you need help with, or just want a few links to some of the cool places in here, I suggest you visit our common homepage.

I'm not sure if you know this already, but there's a welcoming message to all newcomers over here

Other questions you'd might like to ask? Try the "ask H2G2" and "How do I..."-forums
http://www.h2g2.com/A148907 and http://www.h2g2.com/A242470

btw. In case you haven't noticed, the "Don't Panic" button in the top menu bar links to an occasionally useful help section.

Don't worry if you don't understand any of this, just stick this in your ear smiley - fish

I'd also like to say hi and welcome you to H2G2 as well. I'm Shadow, yet another of the ACE's and just thought I'd pop by too.

You can ask any of the ACE's listed on the ACE's page any questions you might have regarding anything. If they don't know the answer personally, we have a rather extensive support team we can ask. Feel free to pop into, comment on and visit any forums you wish. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and some may be stranger than others, that's part of what makes H2G2 such an interesting place to hang about in.

Enjoy yourself is the only advice I have to offer.

I am a medical student .. just about to enter my clinical years. I am contemplating writing a daily journal on your site. I am not sure how interested the editors would be though. I do not know how detailed you want accounts to be. Maybe to test the water I should write a report on total knee replacements? ...

If my input is apprecited I would be willing to write a lot of medically related articles. I this is outside the scope of this site ... I'd like to know ... maybe it is too specialised?

Anyway .. thanks for the welcome ...

I can't think of anything that could be outside the scope of Life, The Universe and Everything smiley - smiley Personally I consider total knee replacements a total kick-off. smiley - bigeyes
I think you should go ahead and write an entry on whatever subject you'd like to start with, and submit it on the Peer Review-page. And if they think that it's a bit too advanced, then you'll be that much wiser when you write the next one.

>I am contemplating writing a daily journal on your site. I am not sure how interested the editors would be though.

Many people use the "journal"-section of their userpages as a diary which they update on a daily or weekly basis, so you won't get any trouble from the Ed's on that account.

I'd say go for it in regards to the total knee replacement article. As I'm going to have to go through the procedure one of these days in the near future, it would be of EXTREME interest to me.

We also have someone writing other medical based entries.

So I'd say you'd not be off base in working on some of your own.

Thank you very much for the welcome, much appreciated. Watch this space for the inevitable, self-indulged rantings of a proudly egocentric medical student.

Total Knee Replacements .. coming soon.
