Bex, it's not so much an option as a way of life...
Click on:
<./>/dna/h2g2/plain/UserDetails</.>
And paste the following link into the field marked "Stylesheet":
http://www.geocities.com/wierd-peet/mustard.css
Make sure the "White/Blue" option is set to White and submit the form...
Oh, and don't forget your sunglasses.

Q: At the moment, h2g2 and Mustardland have two separate and unconnected log-in systems. As a member of h2g2 one also has access to lots of other BBC online facilities, which some MLers are already taking advantage of.
When DNA Mustardland arrives, will our Howerd ML log-in info go with it? For people who've already started to use h2g2 this will leave them with two 'personas' that can't be matched together. I assume a fresh start is more likely, am I right?
Then MLers who *haven't* dipped a toe into h2g2 should perhaps be warned (in DTA & TB) that they will need to register afresh when the new boards start.

Bonsie, this was mentioned on the DNA pov thread (it's on my space):
Peta said:
"Hi Peet,
Just a quick point. Don't try too hard to get the Mustardlanders to sign up for h2g2 or the Hub now. If they do, we'll have to find them all and move all of their spaces over to the new Archers board, technically they'll all belong to the hub or h2g2!
When they move, can you remind me to try and help those that have got stuck in the wrong place, or just make sure that they're okay? It may not make a pile of difference but I'd hate them to think it all buggered up on the first day!"
It was when I saw this that I had the idea of making a central list, which Peet agreed was a very good idea.
Hth,
Katy

Thank you Katy, for those 2 replies.
That must have been the one place I didn't look when I was trying to find if someone had already raised this. Didn't mean to duplicate, obviously!

Bonsie, the short(er) answer, I'm afraid is Yes, everybody who hasn't already signed up with DNA will have to reregister. Apparently, a six-character password wasn't secure enough for DNA, (although it *is* for my Bank! ) so everybody has to get a password of at least eight characters long.
It's a one-time-only (unless you forget your password regularly ) 2-minute process, with the usual palaver of clicking "Accept" a couple of times.

That's odd Peet, I've had a DNA account since Dec 04, which is obviously now located in h2g2 land. My password is not 8 charachters or more in length though
I intend to keep this login when the transfer to DNA happens in ML as it seems to me you have all the advantages here with none of the restrictions - eg like POV not having the journal or My Space area.
It will be interesting to see what the others do who have signed on here, because I'm assuming their DNA account will mean they can begin using the new ML immediately - so you would think, that unless there is as yet some unknown plus to re-registering or being transferred, they might as well just use this one. Or am I missing something here?

LP, Dec 04 is *after* the great Single Sign-On debachle, so you almost certainly have an eight-character password, *unless* they relaxed the rules after all the complaints without telling us.

Oops, I posted before I finished that thought...
The reason DNA Mustardlanders may want to move their "Home site" to Mustardland is because Mustardland will arrange your Personal Space to look as much like Mayo as possible, plus features like "Email me..." links, which h2g2 users won't have.

Phantom Posted Apr 26, 2005
It's defo 7 characheters long - just used it
Perhaps the rule is more than 6.....
Yes' I'd thought they might Mustard it, I'm using the Brunel scheme and in all honesty prefer it a good deal, so that will not change my mind. The notify by "E" could be interesting but then your own conversation list covers that pretty well. I find on the POV site (which I think is pretty awful) that I seem to have all the facillities they have. Does this mean that ML will have access to different facillites that if you don't have it as your home area you can't access?

I'd be perfectly happy to 'move' (in the way that Katy means it) *or* reregister, as I haven't exploited my personal space here at all (busy with RL).
But for posters who've started enthusiastically making journal entries or whatever, does that mean that in order to *retain* that function, they really will have to have 2 identities - an h2g2 one and a ML one?
I realise for you that's no big deal, as you've been doing it for years, but because we thought DNA would mean a seamless link between h2g2 and 'new' Mustardland, some people might get upset (again!)
By the by, thanks for displaying the links to the Troll. Fine, upstanding chap! Still haven't fully understood *which* sockpuppets are involved, but since I don't talk to sleazeoids anyway, it doesn't matter. We should have an emoticon for a sockpuppet!

LP, I don't know what other facilities the Mustardlanders will ask for yet, or which of them they will get. I'll reserve judgement for the moment, as there may be a "killer facility" (Perhaps the ability to dead Shula? ) that hasn't been suggested yet.

It just occurred to me; if we can decode the "homesite=x" code for the new Mustardland, all folk have to do is post the two homesite switching links on their PS and switch back and forth freely.

It would need to be a real killer app to make me want to either change or keep flipping between the two. To stay at least mildly sane two loggins would be easier.
Your solution is an interesting one, clearly somebody has a code list though I'm assuming they've not given ML2 a number yet. It still seems to me that hootoo has the most facillities as things stand and you do get used to that way it functions after a short time. I'd just think that anything really intended as a message board is going to have far less switched on.

Well, if there's any upside to being logged into the new Mustardland, the "flipping" option is so trivial (once it's set up) as to be effectively "transparent"... Let's see what we get, first.

Two more questions (sorry!)
1) Is there any way to get the Brunel skin layout in the Alabaster colours? Brunel layout is easier, but the colours are harsh on eye.
2) Lots of people's journals appear in my conversations list without me looking at them (I think) - these people are in my friends list.
a) is there any way to identify who started the conversation - apart from looking at it, that is.
b) Is there any way to STOP them appearing?
OK, so strictly speaking that's three questions.
