Thanks smiley - smiley

Cyril Connolly was a British author and literary personality, died in 1974. Do a search on his name and you'll come up with lots of stuff.

If Eric is only half a bee, then he must therefore also half NOT be ... a bee. Get it?

Haven't we met? I know a girl in the US

The smileys are easy. Just place the cursor over this smiley - smiley and click. It'll take you to a page full of them, and other fun stuff. Then type the name of the "smiley" of your choice in brackets like so and, voila smiley - wow.

The girl I know is in a place called New York.
York in the UK isn't too big, so the new one can't be much bigger. Is it you?

I stayed in Kensington once but I don't live in the UK. I'm more of a Middle Eastern type, in Israel. Know anyone here?

(14+7-9+9)*2 does not in fact equal 42, it equals 6... the order of operations calls for addition before subtraction...reading it left to right will give 21 (*2=42)...smiley - cat

You seem to know the place pretty well. Been to Eilat and Ben Gurion many times. I was at Ben Gurion yesterday in fact.

Have lived in Hod Hasharon for the last 9 years. Before that - mostly in Ramat Gan and Givatayim.

You haven't answered if you're the girl I know in New York. Is it you? smiley - smiley

What a coincidence, I was in Ramat Gan in 1996 too smiley - silly

Maths was never my strong point smiley - erm, but I don't see the 6.

I worked it out for "The Myth Of 42 [(5-3+0+5) * (6+0) = 42]" entry (
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A530560). Take a look, it's fun.

it is 6 because (14+7-9+9)*2 is grouped like this:
(14+7)-(9+9)
then 21 - 18
then 3 * 2 = 6

i will check out that site

I see it now. Put like that I also get 6, but I don't think they're the same equation. Argon0 seems to have accepted it though.

Where are you in the US?

Nice weather but nasty hurricanes, huh?

Anywhere near Orlando? We're (me plus the wife and kids) are going to Disney World this summer. Just got "The Unofficial Guide" from Amazon to help us plan the trip. Any suggestions?

We've booked a motel in Kissimmee. From the brochure it sounds like a nice place.

Thanks for the offer but no need for you to go out of your way. The book I have should be a big help. It's very objective and has different advice for different types of tourists (singles, couples, families with young kids (like us) or older kids, etc.).

My only worry is that we'll be coinciding with the summer rush. Do you know when the summer holidays are in Florida? We'll be there for the first week in July, right after the holidays begin here.
