Arm socks are indeed like leg warmers. They start above your elbow, have a hole for your thumb and end up like fingerless gloves (so you don't need to take them off to use your hands)

Fingerless gloves. Can you still get them? I used to wear those a lot. Very useful as long as it doesn't get too cold.

Now that the temperature's approaching something like British late spring/early summer temperatures (mid 60s F/upper teens C) I find that I need to bake bread, make baked beans and cook something for dinner, none of which I needed to do a few days ago when it was cold enough for a walking stick and having the oven on would have been very welcome.
