I think you'll find women are to blame for everything. It makes things much easier and neater all round.

Actually, I'm surprised they didn't blame "the gays". Of course, I guess that makes sense as there are no gays in Iran since it's against the law. That worked out well I see.

Of course, this article is 3 years old, so they've been waiting for some time for an earth quake to blame on scantily clad (a tress of hair and two inches of ankle skin showing) women.

You might care to watch a film called The Wrong Box. Apart from being an exceptionally well-written, directed and cast example of 60s British weirdery, as well as very funny, there are some nice little pokes at Victorian prudery, such as Michael Caine's eyes widening at the sight of Nanette Newman's ankle and Nanette swooning at, well, just about everything really.

Oh good grief smiley - facepalmhttp://www.austinchronicle.com/blogs/news/2013-04-23/scratch-that-lege-ends-lottery-then-changes-mind/

If I had a dollar (or a pound) for every time I've heard a lottery referred to as a 'tax on the poor' (and we all know how how much the Republicans hate tax), I wouldn't ever need to play the lottery.

Oh, "scratch that". I just got the pun smiley - biggrin

Woman gets a back injury moving a display, sues her employer http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-22295694

The thing about reading stories like this on the BBC's website is that that's often the last you hear of them. They're rarely followed up except in the local news. I'd like to find out what happens with this one because if the judge doesn't immediately throw it out for being without merit I'll know this society has gone about as low as it can and I want nothing more to do with it smiley - facepalm

I'm sure I've mentioned it around here before in a similar discussion years ago, but it bears repeating. My all-time favorite frivolous lawsuit was one against a hospital system. The litigant claimed that an MRI she received at the hospital destroyed her psychic ability and ended her career.

Now here's the absolutely smiley - facepalm aspect of the case.

SHE smiley - bleepING WON! She won a 7 figure sum.

During the jury trial, her attorney brought an expert in to test her "ability" and, lo and behold, it was proven that she didn't have any. SEE!? We rest our case!.

Well, she definitely had a trial by her peers as they're obviously as smiley - bleepwitted as she was.

Sadly, I just disillusioned myself via that *other* website. It was a CAT scan, not an MRI. It wasn't the scan itself she was blaming, but an allergic reaction to the Iodine tracer dye. And She didn't claim it destroyed her ESP, but rather that it caused severe headaches that prevented her from earning a living... as a psychic.

Still. She won $600K because of an allergic reaction. How is that the responsibility of the hospital? Obviously the appeals court didn't see that it was and overturned the award.

When a form letter, slightly modified, admittedly, just doesn't work (there a several other similarly tweaked responses in the feedback).

Ceck out the feedback on this hard drive and scroll down to the one from ByALongShot:

"Cons: 1 out of 6 caught on fire."

"Manufacturer Response: ...this is not the intended experience with the product."

Is there any degree of indignity and superficiality Richard Branson won't stoop to in the name of publicity? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-22499827smiley - spacesmiley - facepalm

I have respect and admiration for what he's achieved since the first Virgin shop opened, and then the label, and then the airline. I bought my copy of T. Rex (the first LP Marc Bolan released when he shortened the band's name from Tyrannosaurus Rex) at one of the early Virgin record shops where there was a waterbed you could lay down on to listen to records - broken at the time I was there smiley - sadface, and my friend bought the just-released Roxy Music LP, and there was a time when I would only fly Virgin Atlantic (gosh, I sound so jet-set smiley - bigeyes). I came to Tubular Bells just too late for the original black and white label (I know one or two of my friends had that B+W version), but mine has the old school Roger Dean label, not the the later 'scrawl' label. I'm rather proud of that. Okay, he couldn't run a train service as well as an airline. I imagine there were other factors at play that were outside his control.

I just which Branson wasn't such a prat sometimes smiley - rolleyes

Speaking of famous people cross dressing, my uncle formed a hypothesis that all famous male actors must perform in drag at least once in their careers. When you start thinking about it, it's not easy to think of an exception.
