Pretty damn busy as a matter of fact. The South by Southwest music and film festival [url removed by moderator] is in full swing right now - four days of mayhem if you're involved in the music biz in any way. During this week we do 2-3 times as much business as usual at the store from all the people coming in from out of town, even out of continent, buying up a whole load of crappy stuff that never sells during the rest of the year. It's like 3 really busy Sundays in a row followed by 4 really busy Saturdays in a row. We'll normally do about $6,000 on a good Saturday..... today we'd done $4,000 by 4pm (we open until midnight), and it didn't even get busy until the bands started playing at noon! (we open at 9am). Only two more days to go. It's been fun seeing the looks on the faces of the British people who come in when they hear my accent - "Gorblimey, I never expected to find an Essex boy in Texas!" Ah, it's all good fun, and it makes the day pass so much more quickly when you're busy. What's more, we have a profitshare scheme at the store, so plenty of business is always a good thing smiley - biggrin The bands are pretty damn loud too, so it's real nice to come home and sit in... silence smiley - online2long

How about yourself Dragonfly? Got a car yet?

Dragonfly. "A poet can survive everything but a misprint"-- Oscar Wilde

hee hee hee... I didn't realize you sell music!!! YAY!!! Someday you may sell my stuff!!! Only, it'll have a name far closer to my RL one, but I expect the debut album to be titled DRAGONFLY.

WHEEEE!!!

I had a birthday since h2g2 was shut away. I turned 21, but before that, I got my license to drive(I've owned my own car for two years now...)!!! YAY!!! On my birthday, I was sung "Happy Birthday" twice at work, and got cake and a card. That night, I didn't go out for any drinks because I'm not much for such things to begin with, and because I had a concert to play in. I'm the oboist in the Wind Ensemble at my college. That was groovy. The band played "Happy Birthday" for myself and some others, who were excluded up on stage... smiley - winkeye

My Dearheart and I are beginning to make plans for prom on the 21st of April!! YAY!! He's moving to Fort Collins, CO in June... smiley - sadface His education there starts in the fall, or possibly August... I dunno. You may recall that I had applied for CSU as well. I heard from them yesterday, and I do not meet the math requirements, but they want me anyway.

Sadly, some months ago, I said NO to going to that college, and I chose to keep my promise to myself regarding a place called New Zealand. I plan to go there for about a week next summer. YAY!!! it's far too expensive to go to college at CSU, let alone to live in the awesome town where it is.

I've encouraged Dearheart to follow his dreams of academia, although I am scared that his freshman year might be a big stumble. He's not giving himself a break... smiley - sadface I have coaxed a little toward him staying here for a much cheaper education, but since at least January I have only talked about CSU for him.

Herrrmmm.... School for me is becoming gravely dull. This week is my Spring Break, and I've begun to read "The Color Purple", my b-day gift from my uncle. Seven more weeks of school, and I'll have the grossest part of my general education finsihed with. Bleh!!!

I've opened another part of the Musehome as a welcome back gift-- Polyhymnia Speech Hall.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A427448

OH!!! And I was reunited with an old friend last week!!! YAY!!! smiley - winkeye

YAY!!!.... and I am even shaving off all the time I used to spend online... I've read a lot of the latest book I am reading-- "The Color Purple". WOW it is good!!!!!

I also spoiled myself and bought a few new age books today, and a couple of cds-- I have Billy Joel's Greatest Hits, and Meatloaf's Bat Out of Hell!!! ...wanted both for a good old long time...

I also almost bought U2's Atchung(sp!??) Baby. But I decided to put it on my Amazon.com wish list instead, since I only recognized the name of one tune, so I didn't feel like spending $15 on it. That's my music purchasing standard-- I either know I like three songs on it, or at least two I feel I can't live without, or I won't buy it!!! smiley - winkeye

Hello Dragonfly smiley - hug <smiley - biggrin>
I just read your last journal entry, the one about you and Jesse. I'm glad you feel so positive about the experience. All that stuff about the psychic sounds interesting. So what's this about a minor car accident? I hope it was only the car that got dinged up, and not yourself smiley - bruised
You live somewhere out Denver way don't you? We have a couple of stores around Denver and Boulder. I don't know their addresses or phone numbers, and if I were to post the url here it would get moderated out, but if I tell you that company's name is Cheapo, you can add all the w's and coms yourself smiley - smiley We sell used copies of Achtung Baby in our store here for $7.95 or $8.95, and there are a lot of other cd's you can get for less than half price because we offer to buy any cd that people bring in. That means that we have hundreds of copies of many titles (Monster by REM, Pieces of You by Jewel, Cracked Rear View by Hootie and The Blowfish, Blues Traveler Four, I could go on and on), so we sell those ones for like, $4.95. And of course, if you have a bunch of cd's you want to get rid of, you could trade them in. We pay between 5 cents and $5 a disc, depending on the title, and the condition of the cd/artwork/jewel case. We don't deal in cassettes here in Austin, but I think they do at Denver. Let me know if you get over there.
Gosh smiley - hug
