Yeah, that just about sums it up, although I reckon Austin's a lot better than most US cities for its size. Most of the people I know either use the bus or know people who do, so "No-one rides the bus" is not something I ever hear, thankfully. It'll be a very long time before public transport is as accepted here as it is in the UK, or even the east coast of the US, and possibly the north west.
