I think they are OK, Bob. But I am geographically challenged and am not used to interpreting maps, so they don't really grab me. Also using modern maps for historical features,rivers and shorelines can change a lot in centuries and it might not reflect current appearance on google maps. I am not sure that the pedants on this site are likely to thumbs down it. Let me get Dmitri to look at it and you can get his editorial take on it.

Bob, as I understand it, Pastey and people upstairs are consdering this and you'd need to discuss this with them.

I panned over from your black sea map to the Aral Sea and noticed it was about thirty years out of date. The Aral Sea doesn't look like that anymore ( see my edited article A87770343 and NASA images to see more up to date version)

chose that to show a more original size closer to Roman size it needs a note
