Hmmmm...

Bristol, Virginia, home of the NASCAR circuit? Is that the same Bristol that's in Tennessee at the same time?

Someone knows their Bristol!!!! A bill has also been passed by congress stating that Bristol Va/Tn. is the "Home of Country Music". It's still not legal to say that it's the home of NASCAR. We all love going to NASCAR races there. It's the highlight of our boring year. I don't want to ramble on, but I just find it so awesome that you know about Bristol.

Umm... well I didn't until yesterday; so I looked it up on the web and found the Bristol Herald Courier website at www.bristolnews.com.

How did Bristol get the Home of Country Music title? Didn't Nashville put up a fight? Is there a big Country scene there?

I must admit that Nashville does have quite a bit more country music than Bristol. But Bristol is where it all started. Around 1926 this guy cam from the city into my hometown. He found my realatives, "The Carters", and recorded them. They were the first recorded country music group. Within about 10 years, the love of this new music went to Nashville. Thus being where it currently resides. That's basically the paraphrased story.
