Whovisions

I've been a fan of Doctor Who since the 70's, (showing my age now!)and my earliest memory of Dr who goes back to the John Pertwee days. Alas, I missed out at that time, on William Hartnell, and Patrick Troughton's excellent performances.
Thanks to the era of video and then DVD releases, I have of course since caught up and enjoyed watching, what remains of early Dr Who.

If your a Dr Who fan, then its history of story's become intoxicating, and I found myself really getting into the early story's.
The fabulous 'Lost in time' DVD set made me realize how great story's such as Patrick Troughton's 'Evil of the daleks' and his first ever story, 'The Power of the Daleks' must have been. Sadly so much of Troughtons era has been lost, and I feel he was underated as the Doctor.

Being a 3d Artist, I found myself becoming more and more obsessed with Patrick Troughtons first story - 'The Power of the Daleks.'
I purchased the audio Book, and looked at the tele-snaps over at the BBC website. This wasn't enough to cure my hunger for seeing more, so I began looking at scenes, and how I might be able to replicate it in 3d CGI.

My first reconstruction began with the interior of the Dalek ship. I had noted other fans efforts online to replicate certain scenes and wanted to choose a scene that no one had done before. So I picked the Episode 5 scene of the Daleks being constructed.
It took many Hours of work from construction of the sets, to final animation, and I was pleased and suprized at the great reviews it recieved from the fan community.

This spurred me on to do more, and more, and more.....

My goal was this. I wanted to replicate as near as I could, the look of the 60's TV, I also wanted the Daleks to move not like machines, but as if they were studio props with actors inside. This meant, all those little mistakes, wobbles, and inconsistant movements replicated, as well as camera movements.

So there we are, I'm still working away at improving and reconstructing, and this project grows larger and larger, but very enjoyable, and I hope all the fans enjoy the end results, which if your like me, breaths a little life back into this story which I never saw at that time in Doctor Who's history.
