Hi All,

Please add me as a member of the h2g2 vegie club. I have been vegetarian for about 18 months; I do use milk, and rennet-free cheeses (still looking for a parmesan without rennet, but I doubt such a thing exists), and eat yoghurt without gelatin. I also still eat free-range eggs. I try not to eat any sentient creatures. I would cut out the eggs and dairy if I could be convinced that I would not become anaemic as a consequence.

Thanks
Kylie

Hi Kylie,
There's no reason you'd become anaemic by cutting out eggs and dairy - as long as the rest of your diet was balanced. I've been vegan for almost 18 months (and vegetarian for 18 years before that) and I'm definitely not anaemic - full of beans (not always in the literal sense!) and healthy. (I do take a B12 supplement though.) You are moving in the right direction anyway - bless you - and if you feel the full move to veganism isn't right for you yet - then bless the animals that give you sustenance too.
