I lent 750 dollars (interest-free to be paid back in ten months) to an unemployed friend who was simply paying off interest on a title loan on his automobile. He's told his mother who was incredulous, he's paid me back the first installment, and now I have arranged with him for him to provide transportation to a three-day chess tournament in town on my expenses for tournament entry (otherwise I wouldn't have been going).
