I am singing_writer!
Hello fellow h2g2 researchers!
I thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself. I was a researcher here at the guide many years ago, back in 2001. I wrote a handy little article on the writing of stage plays, called "So You Want To Write a Play?" It is in the edited guide, if you'd like to take a peek at it. I was away from h2g2 for a long time, but now I am back.
Here are a couple of things you may want to know about me. I am a playwright and a classically trained vocalist. I am a lyric soprano. I sing opera, musical theatre and folk music when I am not writing plays. I am also currently working on my first novel. I figure a playwright can write prose as well, why not?
Other things you may find interesting. I am a collector. I collect original soft sculptured Cabbage Patch Kids and Teddy Bears of all sorts. I enjoy these collections and I often find that having them around me helps inspire me to write and to sing! They make a wonderful audience for reading one's writing aloud, and for practicing songs and arias.
I work in a book store. I am a member of the management team. I love to read and being a writer, it is always helpful to read the writing of others for inspiration and to better my own writing through reading well written works. It is also nice to buy books at the book store I work in at a reduced price thanks to the generous employee discount I am granted there.
That's about all I can think of in a way of an introduction. I am very happy to be back here at h2g2!
