Did they still tell the tale about the 80 aerial going walkabout during a particularly nasty storm, before the dome got built???

now this is interesting as I believe that one of the antenna went walkabout during the storm hogmany 90 into 91.

the story I heard was that there was a dome there amd one of the panels came loose, with the wind inside the dome it ripped it apart and dumped a 75 ton radar in the north sea!!

The 90-91 walkabout may have been the t13 height finder. It regalarly got bent!!!!

But as to the t80, that happened around 72-73, before the dome was built.

The story goes that during the storm, the scopies rang the hill complaining that they had lost their picture, and what the techs were doing about it.
The message sent back is unprintable here, but the jist of it was, "You've lost your picture, we've lost our ********* antenna!!!

I beleive it took North Luffenham 3 months to fix, and a Norwegian Dome Building four months to build the Dome!!!!
