I thought you may like to know that the reason the TV series seemed shorter that the books was that the TV episodes were an adaptation of the radio series, which only had twelve episodes (and DNA then rewrote into the first two books).

Thanks for the info. I hadn't realised that. Having said that I thought the programmes were shorter, I did think that what was shown was quite brilliantly done, particularly the graphics.

I really enjoyed the TV series too, but at the same time because I'd listened to the radio series so often, I knew all the words (a lot of the script was directly lifted). Not that that is a bad thing, exactly, jsut a thing.
