Field Researcher Halitröpe
A Few Thoughts
It's quite possible in this day and age to forget what life, the universe, and everything all amount to. Some would smugly state the obvious1, but even that simple answer fails to make us comprehend the purpose of our existence.
I have an answer.
The point of life, the universe, and everything -- and specifically, our place in it all -- is to observe, learn, and create. This may seem a bit over-simplified, but bear with me here.
We observe every part of our waking lives whether we like it or not. We use our five physical senses to experience our physical universe -- because of this, we are constantly receiving stimulus and are inherently observing our physical reality. As we progress through our lives, we learn through observation and trial-and-error. This brings me to the final point -- our creativity. A person has learned something when he/she creates; from painters to poets, from musicians to architects, creativity is a vital part of understanding. When one has not learned something from experience or observation, one is not creative, and can actually be quite destructive.
Now let's unleash Deep Thought on that one, eh? :)
About Field Researcher Halitröpe
Halitröpe is my alternate ego; in reality, I am a high school student by the name of Nathan Blaz. My self-imposed exile in Japan makes life interesting; my American/Australian heritage makes me part of a diverse international community. I go to what's known as the Yokohama International School which happens to be in, you guessed it, the city of Yokohama.
I have many interests, but first and foremost among them is my love of music. I've played the cello since I was about five years old and picked up the electric bass about six years ago. My school will have a state-of-the-art recording studio after summer vacation ends; expect to hear some of Halitröpe's musical projects on MP3.com later on in the year.
