What a blessing you are Princess. I have a real case of the s. Popcorn and a good movie/chat would really brighten my day. I have been getting this disjointed, alienated feeling as if I am just not h2g2 material. I actually Invited sunny (I like the name) to stop in and have some and was declined! Said he/she didn't go out with strangers. It was not said in a jocular manner either. Then what apeared to be new user turned out to be a very senior member reactivating their membership. We had exchanged some private emails about the moderators who had appeared while the user was gone. Then I discovered the seniority of the member. I went paranoid. We still exchange email (I invited cyberfriendship) but when I visit the user's page: Lord, they must know everyone in h2g2. And I? I get a few cryptic emails. The fact everyone seems to know everyone else here at h2g2 somehow makes me feel lonely. So, you see, your was well timed. I wonder if all h2g2 members get this feeling once in a while?
I have a very busy day today. I absolutely must finish gradng exams because I have to return them tomorrow night. I have a noon coffee date with a very special (but attached) friend. A kinder soul you would never meet. I hope the coffee wakes me up. No sleep again last night. I must curb my time at h2g2 for the next 24 to 48 hours (but I won't) because I have so much to do. Its strange; while at times h2g2 makes me feel isolated, it is also very addictive. Friendship is the one thing people cannot live without.
Thanks very much for popping in with the , I hope I didn't cry all over it. I hope I haven't been so maudlin that I scare you away. Truth above all things is important. So I have shared my truth with you. Every visit with you is a treasure! I don't need long postings, just a "hi" now and again or some and maybe a .
I must run. Maybe surf h2g2 first, then break out the red pan and begin marking papers. *sigh* The worst part of teaching. Thanks again for the visit ; it was well timed. You must have esp. Visit again!

Sorry if I was getting too maudlin on you there. Everything has been worked out. sunny has become a friend and so has Anonymouse and I hope to make friends with Ottox soon. I sent Clive_the_Flying_Ostrich and invitation to pop in. It seems there is a solid core of h2g2 members who know each other. st broelan and I have become friends. I have to learn to be patient and not to worry so when I make mistakes. There are so many good folks here.So I am no longer so lonely: I have an h2g2 family. More M'Lady?

Don't be alarmed! Everyone starts out here as a new arrival. However, it is a testament to the absolutly staggering amount of community spirit this place generates that everyone gets on so well - and it's true people do make firm friendships here, often pursued off-site. We've even got one or two weddings lined up this summer!
So you see - you do end up knowing so many researchers it's like one big family. It's not surprising I guess that it can seem a little daunting.
Give it time, introduce yourself - get involved. Is the best advise I can offer. Eventually you'll introduce yourself as an ACE to a newbie and they'll gasp at *your* low user number and ask how long you've been using this site for!

But Clive, I still have it posted as an conversation with no replies!
Perhaps I should (thought I did) have posted it on your page. I'm sure I did. I made some horrid remark about we in Nebraska eating Ostrich jerky . I have been floating around h2g2 for two years and just did not grow with it because I had to be away now and again. I sent you an email informing you that I had no right or left click on my iMac and asking how I elicit those blob numbers.
I have already noticed the gap between my number and newer users numbers. However, where is the knowledge that should have been gained in between the two?

Amy, where have you been? I have and and so that we can have a nice visit and maybe watch a video. Did Clive scare you off? I don't think he meant to bring our conversation to a close. He is a good fellow. Come on by and visit again. You already know I am one of your fans. I need a anyway because I found out Saturday that my Mum has less than 90 days to live. She has metatastic cancer. She knows it and if fully aware (when not on morpheine) of the future. She will see Dad before I do!. She has lived a good, long life (80 years). I would rather see her go fast than linger on in pain. So come on by and lets watch a comedy and forget our woes Miss Sad Bad or Mad (M'Lady, sorry, I couldn't resist).
