My small intestine is shorter than yours.

Ah, what a fun summer. I was in a car accident May 24th, spent 5 days in the hospital, and went home hoping to get better...well, didn't quite happen that way. I'd had some internal injuries and bleeding, and apparently my small intestine was pretty hard hit. I kept getting sick whenever I ate, and then my mom freaked out one night when she was trying to talk to me on ICQ and I kept having to leave to throw up...the parents tooled on up to my apartment and dragged me back to the hospital where the surgeon that I don't quite like anymore decided that my small intestine was rather quite damaged with scar tissue and dying sections due to the original tears in the mesentery and that I needed to have those sections removed. So nearly a month to the day after the accident I had a foot of my small intestine removed, the first time I ever had surgery. That was Thursday, June 22. I was in the hospital for a week, and now I'm parked indefinitely at my parents' house. Which might not be so bad but for a few points. First of all, I'm not working. Yeah, vacation is great, except that I'm in college and live paycheck-to-paycheck and it looks like I'll end up losing some $1000 in wages because of this accident. (Which, incidentally, was not our fault and means I may get some recompense from the other insurance company, but we'll see.) I thereby have to borrow from the parents to pay rent and am not paying off my credit card bill and buying computer parts and a new stereo as I had planned. Second, I had to drop out of summer school. Could be great again, except that this means I'll be an extra semester in college. Great. I didn't want to graduate anyways.

So I have all this free time now, which I'm not spending anywhere near my friends where I might enjoy it with them or even in my own apartment where I might do my own thing, but rather in the small town I grew up in and don't particularly like. One month of summer blown, two to go. We'll see if things get better, but I'm really not feeling to optimistic about it right now.

Happy news, anyone?
