Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am... Posted Nov 11, 2011
Got paid today, and thanks to a financial cockup at the weekend I've had virtually no access to last week's pay meaning I'm about £80 better off than I was expecting to be.
I can get a new graphics card that'll handle Skyrim and then some for about £60.
I suspect I'll be doing a lot of ing with Mrs. D tonight.

heh, amazing how many folks in the office alt-tab away from the skyrim steam page when you walk past their computers...
Might pick it up hard copy tomorrow, might leave it a bit. Not sure. Might get it as a present for myself if I've done well in my exams.
Or as commiseration if I haven't Then again I might just get it tonight when I get in anyway.

Oy, tell your colleagues to stop downloading - my speed is down to below 100 Kb/s and has been at 99% forever! *pacing*

It's why I never download anything within 24 hours of release.

Good grief, that intro is almost in style with the most dramatic ideas I've had in mind. But the controls are different, might have to consult the manual, darn.

Not too different I hope, I've only just got used to how Oblivion does things (I spent an awful long time stubbornly playing all first-person games as if they were Quake. Turns out that *not* doing that has turned me into a better gamer... whoda thunk it?)

TBH, I've never used WSAD in an FP game, just doesn't work for me.
Always use the strafe left right and never the turn left right as well.
Have used cursor keys combined with mouse look since Daggerfall with ins&end as jump and crouch respectively.
It is rather annoying then having the other commands across the keyboard from me, but tend to remap as appropriate to the mouse/keypad depending on how much I use them.
So, this weekend: finish off the front room floor and play a bit of Vampire Masquerade or a solid 48hr Syrimathon?

I don't think A and D have been turn left/right for quite a while now. Certainly all the games I've played since I stopped using Mouse2 as 'forward' have had A and D as strafe keys.
Most assume you're using the mouse for all turny stuff.

Oh I know, but they most of the ones I've played still have the turn l/r keys on there somewhere. dunno why.

Oh and strafing! What a revelation that was... how I spent so long not using it I'll never know. Being able to go round corners already facing the right way!

Summarising the intro if I had written it, Freya style:
'There must have been some terrible mistake!'
'Off with her head!'

how's it playing and what graphics settings you running at? Any noticable lag or stutter in game play or sequences?
Lost in Oblivion
Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Nov 11, 2011
Automatic graphic setting set mine to 'high'. A bit of lag at the very first sequence (where you can't move around, just look).

I suppose M1 and M2 refers to the mouse, because I can't find any separate mouse settings.
