I work in the Persian Gulf: Dhahran which is on the east coast of Saudi Arabia and go most weekends to Bahrain which is just an hour's drive (over the causeway which links the two countries).

Have you finished your night shift yet?

i work 7 on and 7 off
i finish on monday morning

Wow Graham,
you're the first person I've ever contacted that has your job, how fascinating. Do you always do the night shift or do you sometimes do mornings/evenings/afternoons?

if i book a weeks leave
i get three weeks off
so it a lot better.

That sounds like a good deal. My weekends are Thursdays and Fridays (muslim weekend) and usually I go to Bahrain every Wednesday lunchtime as I finish just before lunch (11:50) and come back late Friday or very early Saturday morning. This weekend though I did a bit of paid overtime yesterday so that's why I'm here this morning.

No, I worked all day yesterday invigilationg some exams. I'm off today. It's really cold this morning. A lot of folks are surprised when they hear that Gulf countries can be cold becuase in the summer it can be 45c plus, but the winters can be cold too!
