Aloha.
Just to add to the list of people who have popped in to say Hi, and add a little more... You may notice (apart from the other assorted selection of titles after my name) I have the word ACE. Somewhere. ACE stands for Assistant Community Editor, and the Assistant Community Editors.. ACEs.. wander around the guide, welcomeing new people, such as yourself, and looking for new and exciting new guide entries. Well, that's the idea. The ACEs also have a less advertised selection of cousins called the SUBs. But you'll find out about those soon. ...
In the meanwhile, if you're having problems of any sort, the ACEs Homepage is there for you... it's linked to from the h2g2 front page. At this point in a welcome message, I usually deplore the inadequacies of GuideML, and give a little link to a site from whence one can learn about it.. but as a fellow web-designer, I'm sure you'll pick it up soon. ..
Good luck in your sojourn in the guide!
- Njan.

I think I'll expound on what Njan said about Subs:
You don't see many people with Sub after their name, unlike the tremendous ACEs. There are two reasons why:
1) They really don't want /everyone/ to know that they are a rejecter-of-Entries (which I'll explain later) OR
2) They're too busy working their arses off searching for links and hunting down additional facts that they don't have the time to write Entries themselves, much less change their name .
What the subs do is they go through the queue of submitted Guide Entries and decide whether they should be Approved into the official Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. You can see some of these 'best-of-the-best' Entries in the 'Editor's Recommendation' section on the front page at http://www.h2g2.com .
For the Entries that get to go to that spot on the front page, the subs have to go through and change all the GuideML (the h2g2 programming language) so that it fits a specific set of guidelines. For the not-so-great ones, they wrte a rejection slip to be sent ot the writer.
I'm one of the subs, by the way , along with being an ACE.
Have fun, spacemonkey.

Thanks for the warm welcome cheese et al I'm looking forward to getting some of these ere guide entries written. I mean - no entry about Essex for a start. H2G2 is the ideal place for procrastinators like myself to hang out. I must have spent the best part of today flitting around the site. Off to eat my beans on toast now. XXX spacemonkey XXX
