Hallooo Zorpheus. I'm Shadow, another one of the ACE's here. Noticed you're from the Chicago area. I am as well, in the NW burbs at the moment actually. How's things coming along for you here at H2G2? Finding everything okay? If you're looking for odd spots on the web, I maintain a bunch of links on my page to some of the stranger web sites I've stumbled across. Well, must jet, I'm supposed to be working at the moment!
Have a good one,
~S

Hey Shadow!
Nice to meet you and thanks for dropping by.
I just took a look at your page and noticed that you play paintball. The funny thing is I was just searching the guide to find out what it had to say on paintball. I use to be on a team 8 years ago, but haven't played in a long time. I am starting to get the itch to shoot someone again.
Are you an indoor or outdoor player?
Hello!
§hadow Posted Jul 6, 2000
Outdoor most definately. We have an informal group that heads up to Paintball Sam's in Wisconsin on an irregular basis. Most of us started playing back in '85 at Buffalo Rock, when your entry fee paid for your pistol, ten paintballs and a pony keg of beer. Safety goggles were optional. Things have certainly changed a bit since then! I'll definately let you know when we're heading up there next, should be sometime later this month, you're more than welcome to join us. We all have extra equipment, so no worries if you're short anything. Whoops! Gotta scoot I have a meeting in about 30 seconds.

Ah! The good old days. I remember playing with the old Splat-Master and PMI pistols. Also the gogles optional era. The last time I played was with a Beast-Master pump-action rifle with the excelent "auto-cocker" option.
I have been looking at some of the new semi-auto weapons that they have out know and boy do they look fun!
Thank's for the invite. I would love to go up. I have never been to Sam's but I have heard a bunch about it. That's where they hold "the Big Game" right?
Hello!
§hadow Posted Jul 6, 2000
Yep. They usually have a little over 600+ people playing at once during The Big Game. Fortunately they have a smaller side field they call "Nic", for Nicaragua, that's loaded with plywood huts, that you can play in once you're eliminated from the Big Game. I've also heard something about a major event with Tipmann coming up soon in Michigan, something about them vs. the world.

Oh, btw...I use a Tippmann Pro Lite with the vertical air adapter and an extended sniper barrel and an over-sized hopper. It fires a hair slower than an Automag, but is more accurate and has better range. I recommend Tippmann over Airgun Designs mainly because they deliver much the same features (with a little customization) at a MUCH lower price. Unless you're talking about the Automag RT in which case...it's a better gun hands down, but my darling dearest "Won't let me spend $800 on a toy no matter how cool it is." We'll see...

Yep, I've been out of this sport for way to long. Although the cool thing is I still know exactly what you are talking about.
It looks like my old "Beast-Master" might be a little outdated.
I need to go shopping.
There use to be a store called Master of the Game. You wouldn't know if they are still around, or if there are any other shops close by?
Hello!
§hadow Posted Jul 6, 2000
Do I know if there are any shops nearby?!?! You aren't serious are you? Wait, you must be, otherwise you wouldn't have asked. Okay, where are you located or do you just want *dramatic music* THE BIG LIST?

This is a good place to start.

This is where I bought my gun.

It's always best to deal with Airgun Designs directly if you're interested in the Automag line. http://www.airgun.com/
I know of several other stores around the area, let me know if you want more.

Wow, paintball has come a long way. I remember searching for days to find someone to fill my CA tank, and finding replacement parts for my gun, forget it.
It looks like paintball life has gotten alot easier.

Heyo! Back again. Guess what? We've got a paintball outting to Sam's planned for Friday, July 21st. Interested in going? We'll be heading to The Safe House afterwards for drinks, I have a link to their website on my page if you want to check out what the place is. We have tons of extra equipment, so having a PB Gun and other gear isn't strictly necessary. Lemme know if you want to go.

Krap!
That's the weekend that Jimmy Buffet is playing at Alpine Vally.
Every year a bunch of my friends and I go to see Jimmy Buffet. We make a little drunken vacation of it. We leave Thursday afternoon and head up to Wisconsin only stopping to get our supply of booze and assorted munchies. We get a hotel room or two (depending on how many people go, this year it's 28 people - two rooms) then spend the rest of the day/night at a bar called Hogs & Kisses where we make friends with the rest of the die hard "Parrot-Heads" and get procede to get compleatly loaded until they close or get kicked out (I can never tell which one happens first).
Friday is then spent recovering from the ensuing hangover at the pool with more beer and tequila (this seems to be the best way to get rid of a hangover).
Then Sat. is the concert. A bus picks us up at the hotel and we make the trek to the concert once again only stopping to get more booze and assorted munchies. when we finally arive at the concert we spend the next 3-4 hours partying we Every Jimmy Buffet fan in Wisconsin and Illinois that was lucky enough to get a ticket.
I'm not sure if Jimmy Buffet actually ever shows up (after the 8 concerts that I have been to I have never actually seen the man) but there is a huge party in the audiance (lawn seats, if you ever go get lawn seats). Where beautiful women wearing coconut shells (and not much else) are more than happy to dance, drink, and have fun with any morron wearing a goofy hawaiin shirt.
The interesting part comes when the concert is over, you seem to have missplaced your friends, run out of beer/tequila and you need to find you way back to bus that dropped you off. But since you don't remember the # of the bus, where it was parked or what the driver looked like, you need to stumble from bus to bus, poking your head inside to see if you know anyone, and hope that you know them from the original ride to the concert.
So unfortinatly I will not be able to play paintball with you and your friends (that weekend), but please let me know when you play again.

No worries. I do have one other thing going on. After paintball, we're all trooping over to The Safe House in Milwaukee. I have a link to their web site on my page, check it out. It's a full James Bondian themed nightclub, including having a woman at the door named Moneypenny that you have to give the password to or she makes you do something silly to get in. It is a stone-cold BLAST! We should be showing up there about 7:30 or 8'ish at the latest. Since you're going to be in the AO (Area of Operations), if you want to hook up with the crew, (It's growing larger by the day!!! 2 new people are coming as of yesterday. And yes a couple of them will be single, unattached, soft, squidgy females. Hoo-ah!) i'll shoot you the directions. Lemme know.
Yap atcha laters,

That sounds realy cool!
I will try and make it there. This all depends on how many beers and upside-down margaritas I have at the pool.
No need for the directions, I got them off of their web-site.
What is the password, control?

§hadow Posted Jul 18, 2000
Here we go again! I just got word from the group that the outing has been canceled, there's some sort of massive party going on here and we've been cordially invited and appearance is sort of mandatory for some unknown and unnamed reason. I just found out last night. I hate it when they do stuff like this and neglect to mention it to me until the very last minute.
So how's life treating you? I found an indoor field we may go and check out. It's about 30 miles South of Chicago. It's called Paintball City and their web page is here if you want to check it out. http://www.paintballcity.com/ Lemme know what you think.
Gotta jet,
~S
