Starman - Keeper of Songs

Hey Zorpheus

Just came across this place yesterday.
You seem to be very passionate about what it used to be like !

There seems to be a bucketful of rules now

Who created it ?

hey Starman

Well, Duglas Adams wrote the book The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, that talks about an electronic guide that you can ask it questions about "Life the Universe and Everything" (the name of the second book in the series) and it will give you (sometimes) useful inkformation about your topic of choice. The guys that went out and collected this data for the "Guide" were called researchers.

I don't know who exactly started H2G2 (I heard about it from a radio interview of Duglas Adams a couple years back) but it is basicly earths edition to the "Guide".

It has also become a home of sorts to alot of people that just like to talk, have fun, and debate issues. Most of the community are really laid back and light hearted. There are also some real funny and intelegent people around that can help answer any questions you might have.

Now the only problem is that H2G2 was aquired by the BBC and now the guide went from a bunch of happy people self moderating their own web-community to being controled and moderated (censored) by a bunch of corporate hacks. (I get a little testy because I don't like people monitering what I write and deciding if it is appropriate. I'm a big boy and I can judge for myself what is .......sorry, the start of a long winded rant that if you look around the guide you will find many different versions of the same thing, so I will not subject you to reading mine. Back to the subject..)

The Guide is a fun place and I hope you stick around there are many great and friendly people around and I'm sure that the ACES (assistant community editors)and Angels (guardian angels) will stop by your space shortly to say hi and welcome you to H2G2.

And if you get a chance I highly recomend reading the "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" then you will get the inside jokes that some people weave into this place, and it will give you a good understanding of the people in here. Most of the community has read all the books in the series. (I have twice)

See ya around. smiley - cool

Hi Zorpheus
thanks for the quick reply

Yeah I read Hitchhikers and Dirk Gentlys Holistic Detective agency when I was a kid. Seem to remember a monk on a horse.

This place looks really interesting. I was just curious who had set up the Earth edition.

Have a quick look at my place to get a bit of an understanding of what I'm about

have fun
