You're absolutly right! they are a bunch of F*****G censors. I come back to the guide after a few months and find even my personal space has been violated!! They evidently didn't like my introduction because of a brief reference to the Chocolate Chip Cookie Cult, and its quest to prove that chocolate chip cookies are better than S*X. (I daren't say the word, lest big brother is listening) I won't be editing the entry though. I'll leave it as is, hidden if need be, in protest. I came here to find a place I thought was full of interesting free thinkers, but now it seems to be full of thought police, and not much else. I haven't decided if I'll even be comming back.
Keep up the resistance till they drag you out kicking and screaming!!
I leave with my traditional sign off(whether they like it or not)
Bye Bye,
Buy Bonds,
Did someone say Bondage??
Where!?
Where??
Dave.

TPTB are roaming around. My username got bumped because it broke house rules ie reference to n2g2-dot-com (daren't use an URL as it'll get whacked.)
Frankly you've got no f***ing chance when they spot this conversation!

Ok... they deleted my space two or three times, and deleted my name. It is the facelessness of the whole system which is so unpleasant.
But there was some good news - I lodged a conversation on Abi's age and on Peta's page saying "please help me - what is going on - please email me to let me know what the specific problem is" and I got a couple of emails from Peta explaining exactly what the specific issues were.
We negotiated back and forth a little (one email each way) and came up with the new name which is ok by me.
The point here is (1) though the Moderators seem faceless you can raise specific issues with the Italics; and (2) if you do, you will get specific guidance on your particular issue.
It helps to be polite and reasonable; they are all doing difficult jobs and dealing with their own and our culture shock.
And my opinion on the Moderation by the Beeb remains the same - it has been heavy handed and intrusive; and it reveals the BBC for the self-serving self-censoring organisation it is. I say some of these things in my personal space. But I am also realistic - I will work within the tramlines, while pointing out that the tramlines are there.
My advice - dont just sit and bitch about it - negotiate.
Good luck!

Hey, I am following their rules (that always seem to be different). I am not happy about it, but I am following the rules. I wouldn't even have thought about putting swears on my page or in my name without the **** through them, but that is one thing accepted by them so I am doing it as a protest to the whole "big brother" thing.
I like to tell jokes and some/most of them have been "moderated" because they are offensive. Not that they had bad language in them (very few did - and I would have understood about them if they were moderated) but because they eluded to something or another.
Now Peta asked me if it was appropriate for a 10 year old to read about such things, and I told her that the 10 year old would have to have a pretty good understanding of what I was talking about to even get the joke and therefor would have already learned about whatever I was talking about.
Not to mention that I think a 10 year old left unsupervised on the internet could find (and would be far more interested in) billions of other - worse things then a stupid joke. That they probably wouldn't get anyway. Hell, you could find worse things on the television, or in books.
So, who were my jokes hurting? People with no sense of humor, or people that can not laugh at themselves or the world around them?
My thought is people need to lighten-up and stop taking everything so seriously. And if jokes offend you so much... don't read them.
That's my beef.

You all seem pretty hacked off with the moderation process. Did you know that there are a number of "off BBC" sites populated with refugees from the BBC version of h2g2 that will allow you to post uncensored.
The main one at the moment is at Yahoo groups, group name "n2g2". There is also "n2g2-dot-com" (daren't post any URLs as TPTB will only censor this post) which has got some forums and plenty of links to other outposts.
See you there!
