Hi mate! Have you checked your email? I found a way you could be incredibly helpful in the Aviators...

Yep, I saw it! I think 'genius' is pushing it...
Just got back from a very small Glasto board meet so am a tad tipsy but will have a bit of a think and a fiddle about tomorrow.
Nadgers, it already is tomorrow.
I was told tonight that I don't post gay and that I'm a 'gayzer' (a gay geezer apparently). And a woman I've never met before asked me to feel her breasts. I declined. They were nice though.

These women are wasted on the likes of you. Why don't they come up to me with offers like that?
Anyway, there's no pressure, I just thought you might be into the idea. There's going to be an almost EG-ready clip up there in a few hours, so keep an eye on my YouTube!

Any progress yet, me old mate? I was considering having a go, but I'm not very musical and I can't work out the blimmin' software!

I've got a sweepy keyboardy bit and whacked some banjo on it but I think it's a bit intrusive. It's tricky trying to get the balance right. But, yeah, there is progress. Should have something exhibitable by tomorrow night.

Really? That's brilliant! I managed to make some fairly rubbish-sounding beats, but gave up. If it had been an African-themed Entry, it might have worked, but not for a cartoon bird!

I haven't used any percussion - the washy thing is quite rhythmic in itself.
I'm thinking of doing two versions, one being a little 'theme tune' and the other a loopable phrase that can burble away quietly in the background (much like the music behind the entries in the h2g2 TV & radio programmes)

It would be great to have more than one ditty, as not everything that gets produced is going to be of a similar style. If there's space on the group (we have 30mb storage), they could be uploaded there along with the standard AV intro piece and used by anyone who creates an AV Entry. I'm not suggesting you write loads, though

We could have a remix competition!
Maybe not.
I could probably do a different style for each of the Life, The Universe and Everything categories. Beyond that there'd be a danger of losing cohesion.
Anyway, I'll get the first one finished first and see how it goes down. It's not really specifically appropriate for the cartoon bird as I'm trying to do something more general.

That's great, mate, I'm just keen to get *something* done I think once things are rolling, we might get more members with more ideas, and some might have their own music in mind. I'm happy to go with whatever you, the maestro himself, come up with

Damn. It's all gone a bit wrong. The nice bouncy backgroundy thing has developed itself into a massive great trancey, floaty, misty-valley-at-sunrisey thing and is no longer appropriate.
Back to the drawing board.
It sounds gorgeous though!

I'm still playing with the knobs at the minute.
You remember the big swooshy machine that I was mucking about with when last you were here? I've been using that, and a similar newer one. Put 'em together and it's gorgeous!

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side... Posted Apr 27, 2007
Ooo yeh... playing with knobs? is 8 still there then? I'm gagging. oops. I mean I'm gagging to get back to do some recording, finish off all those rough things I did way back, think I sent some too ya, now I've got the midi/USB keyboard controller thinggy, and a better grip on some of the bits of the software, but been putting off doing much more until the new PC is all ssystme go have found doing the drum side of things tons easier using the drum synths I've now got with the USB keyboard, makes it easier for fitting it into the tempo by using the metragnome thinggy in cakewalk which makes it easier mind... still like the old SR16 bit 1980's though I guess nice live sampled drums on a soft synth I had with me software but couldn't figure out how to work until of late ooo No must wait before starting anything new, I've backed up this PC now and don't want to do it again before moving everything on to the new machine

I will when it's finished, even if just for showing off purposes!
