Hi there, Roymondo,
Here it is: A20701928 - don't forget to subscribe to it
I have been through the entry, mostly just added a few commas, put fullstops at the end of the footnotes and took away a couple of spare spaces. I have been through the PR thread and your links are pretty comprehensive, so it's looking all done to me. What do you say?

Looks good to me! Mind you, you can guarantee something will leap off the page as soon as it's too late to do anything about it...

Yeah, and knowing my luck...
I will hold on to it for a little while, then. As it is the PTBs are not in the Towers to receive it if I send it now I'll look at it again a little later to make sure - I think I got a little involved in the subject matter, and when that happens, all sorts of detail will escape me

*You* got involved! When I started it I thought I'd be lucky to reach 500 words!
Do you think the titles better as it is now? The original title seemed a little ranty to me, hence the change.

what an excellent - and sad - tale...
my only critisism, and its mibbie not worth bothering about, but it did jar a wee bit, was the sentence:
"Swallow had already been subject to sniffings from a couple of takeover attempts when Grant was appointed."
....might flow a bit better as:
"Swallow had already grabbed the of attention of a couple of[companies/consoriums/corporations.. whatever the case, who had been sniffing around with take-over attempts in mind when Grant was appointed"
anyway... a good read for sure... and a great example of people with no idea of the importance of local industry and the the SME in a word of global corporations and mass production...
....something that the CAMRA lot understand at least

Actually, I agree with you there. I think I considered rewriting it but then got used to it!
Wilma, could you change it to:
'Swallow had already grabbed the of attention of a couple of companies who had been sniffing around with take-over attempts in mind when Grant was appointed'
please?

Done:
>> Swallow had already grabbed the attention of a couple of companies who had been sniffing around with take-over attempts in mind when Grant was appointed. This was largely down to the success of the hotels, and helped form the perception that Swallow was a hotel group carrying a brewer. Being from a city background, Grant, perfectly legitimately, saw the group in the same way. Grant had an interest only in the shareholder, not in the community. <<
How does that sound now? I had to change the next sentence to 'This was...'

'Tis good.
A pint of Waggledance (or something slightly less obscure!) shall be forthcoming to each of you should the opportunity arise.
