Roy's off to WOMAD.

I can see where your coming from with that (and am quite envious) but, you know, I'm talking Peter bloody Gabriel here!

Blimey, I'm, in one of Tony Levin's photos on his site!
http://tonylevin.com/pg07_21.htm
Eighth photo down, a shot from the stage, there's a black box to the right of the photo. Just to our left of that there's someone in a purple jumper. Just behind and to our left of her there's someone in a blue jumper; just behind and to our left of them there's a chap who appears to be in a beige t-shirt.
Just behind and to our right of beige t-shirt person is my mate John, with long, dark hair and a blurry face.
Behind and to our right of John there is a blue sunhat with a small chap in a blue t-shirt under it leaning to our right. That small chap is me.

I've circled myself. I think you'll find my directions were spot on.

OK then where was the cute ice cream van? I can't say I recollect that!
I think the band who you aren't sure about are Toumast, they played in the big red tent (nice and descriptive stage name) on friday afternoon.
PG was good. We were much further back, out in amongst the flags nearer the food stalls than the stage.

The ice cream van was 'twixt the open air stage and the fair ground bit.
Toumast were indeed the fellas.Frightfully good stuff.
Even though I left early it was worth going for PG. I like a lot of the WOMAD artists but, for me, they need sun and somewhere to lie down and chill while your listening to 'em, hence my early departure.
The Kronos Quartet were good too. I think they were in the big blue tent!

Phil Posted Jul 31, 2007
I didn't see the Kronos Quartet but had you stuck around then seeing Sheila Chandra on sunday night was pretty amazing. And Bill Cobham playing solo for about an hour (mighty, mighty is his drumming prowess)
and all the others seen/heard who are temporarily forgotten about right now (ie most of the stuff from the weekend).

I really, *really* wanted to see Billy Cobham, just to prove to myself that he actually exists and has just the two arms. The opening 8 bars of 'Vital Transformation' lead me to think otherwise.

Phil Posted Jul 31, 2007
All I could see were two arms and hands. Even though he's quite at home with up to 4 drumsticks* of varying kinds in the hands.
*he may be able to play with more than two sticks per hand but I didn't see it if he could.

And we was wondering if you were around to watch Taj Mahal. When he came back for the encore he picked up his banjo and started playing a blues tune with that

Ah, but I did miss Taj Mahal playing a banjo!
I know someone who's been to, I think, six festivals this year, through working on a stall, and quite a few that have done three or four.

Dunno, but MMF's playing at the Thanet Folk Festival and suggested a mini-meet with Evadne Cake and yourself. 11th & 12th of August I think.

Hmmm.... I'll have to find out what month we are now, and when that month and date are, and find out what I'm doing and where I am and weather I've any money left after buying a new mixer
