riftweaver <= Information
Hi, I'm riftweaver, as you may have guessed from the title above. This is supposed to be all about me, so let me get started. I live in the city of Cleveland, in the wonderful state of Ohio, which is located in the Midwestern portion of the United States. Cleveland has often been the subject of derision by more "important" cities across the country, but I don't know why. It's really not that bad -- and it's much nicer than it used to be. We have the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame, the Great Lakes Science Center (named because Cleveland sits on Lake Erie, one of the five Great Lakes), and the beautiful Key Tower. That said, I don't actually live in Cleveland, I live outside of it in a suburb called Westlake. It's one of those suburbs that's recently built up, so lots of Westlake lacks character. However, I live in a semi-secluded townhouse that's a two-minute drive from the lake, so I won't complain. I work in the big city though ("downtown"). I used to have a lake view from my 15th-floor office at a startup company called NetGenics. I've since moved on, however, and now I work at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. I'm a software developer, which means I spend lots of time thinking and staring a computer monitor and typing away, only to wail and swear and gnash my teeth in frustration. Fun, innit? I like reading, mostly nonfiction of various sorts (whatever currently interests me), entertainment periodicals, and fantasy fiction. I like writing music, prose, and screenplays. I listen to various music, but mostly stuff from the UK. At work I used to listen to the net broadcast of Virgin Radio UK, and that pretty much highlights what I like to listen to. My new job is really strict on security, so I can no longer get streaming audio. If anybody wants to recommend any new UK music worth owning, please let me know! Three little friends have graciously agreed to share my home with me, and let me call them pets. Snickers is the first. She's the most adorable little bunny. (Okay, not so little.) She's actually a world-famous jet-setting socialite, who spends her time schmoozing with other names and shopping. She is especially fond of Chanel, and can't own enough Chanel No. 5. Maddie, short for Madeleine, is number two. Although she can be the most loving creature when sitting in my lap, she often turns into a hellspawn feline when things don't go her way, and I have the scratches on my body to prove it. My most recent addition is Morgan, a beta fish I saved from a cousin's wedding. Based on the previous information, you can probably expect future Guide entries for the following (i.e., back off! :-) ).- Cleveland
- Westlake
- Snickers (not to be confused with the candy bar)
- Chanel
- Variety (Daily and Weekly)
- Screenwriting
