I just thought I would pop in and say thanx for helping my friend romani in the peer review convo thread.She was starting to feel abit bullied by Naita who seems to have a very distructive instead of constructive nature to her.
But as with many things she still has alot to learn.She should remember that in century's past the Priests were also the scientists.Pity they seperated.If they hadn't then we would not be messing with things like cloneing.Oh well,Thanx anyway hun.

commented on the negativity in thread before i'd read the entry! Don't like to see that sort of thing going on, so I just jumped in! Good article too, needs encouragement, not critiscm! Thought that was supposed to be the spirit of this guide!

it seems that the villain of the piece was not happy not having his own way like... said it so in his journal and started a group of "entries burners"...

well i thought that was the aim of PR to encourage new writer's through constructive criticism not destructive demolision as someone seems intent on doing.Their hatred seems to be fed from fear of the unknown and his fear it seems has turned to blind anger which he pursues with great diligence and purpose.Its a wonder how he could be a scientist as he is not even open enough to think of future posibilitys and i can't see him doing anything rewarding in that field as it is usually those that dream of a cure for a disease or theory to a mathmatical equation that become the achievers.
I wonder if he has heard of how the Pyriodic table came about.Because the man who found quite a few of the missing elements and placed it in the order it is in today saw it in a dream.
Funny that,but a great scientist,one that will be remembered when others are forgotton.

what's worrying [i know i mentioned it to romani but Z night be interested by this too] is that they won't EVEN accept the PR's decision as they plan to target entries that don't agree with their "sceptical" views...

from what i read in the PR review the edited entries are already formatted to "please the sceptics"... how far has someone to compromise so that this faction can be pleased if even after that criteria being fullfilled they will still be at risk of being the victim of the "entries burners"' crusade?!...

they obviously want a sceptic's guide of the universe... which then will make the guide lame, boring and one sided... but most of all must be against this community's wishes...

i wrote "sceptical" this way because their [planned] actions don't even relate to the definition of the word... thoughtful, etc?!... yeah sure...

i don't think some of the peeps who joined realise what kind of faction they've joined and added their names too...

the fact that this group has been created out of spite by a sore loser should already have giving them an idea of what to expect tho'...

the term "entries burners" might not be justified for all of them but there are definitly two of them who fit the profile...

anyway should be interesting to see how things will go from there...

Have you seen the entry I posted in writing comp 5 convo thread?

I was going to invite the "Sceptics" across to debate some issues.Its a better place for them than in Peer review where they do more harm than good.They have also put alot of people of writing for the guide because of their nasty natures and its not right. Everyone has a right to contribute to the guide no matter who they are.If extremists like them are allowed to put their points of view in then so can others.
Some say Einstein is right others say he is wrong.It was only recently that scientists finally admitted that a bumble bee can fly even though they have been for century's.But I bet they were among the camp that said a bumble bee couldn't fly basically because science said they couldn't when you only had to look at one to see that it did.
More fun methinks to come

mmmmmm... i would not mind so much if they were basing their opinions on objective and genuine scientific tests...

some of randi's tests results "might" have been subject to allegations with documented evidence that he "might have" added some imaginary loopholes in the findings...

i wrote "might" and "might have" as, although these claims have been made in the 80s and have been mentioned again in a relatively recent book, which could mean that no court case has said that these allegations are not true, i'm not to sure where such information stand when it comes to the house rules... i suppose that if i could find something about that on the bbc site it would be safe enough to repeat them on here...

my point being that what they call results from scientific tests might not be THAT scientific or/and objective...

and as i said before in the PR thread it's lucky that there were not more sceptics on the scientific board... imagine the number of researches that would never have been started if they were in charge... better not think about it...

I think they should be reported to THE ITALICS!

How can they get away with being so hostile and aggressive, it's very negative and not what the guide is for!!

unfortunately... as a digibox user i can't yike offending posts... [a problem which hopefully will be solved too... after all we have a more digibox friendly skin now...]

so i couldn't do much... but yes there are some very questionable comments there... especially the thread with the scout... it sure raises questions... and of course is their plan an "intend of flaming"?!... as that's how it could be interpreted...

that's why i wanted other people to see their page and their convo as well as their leader's journal too...as my perception of what's going on is based on my personal opinion which is unfortunately kinda based on a previous experience with "sceptics with a mission" on another site...

Unfortunately I'm a digi user too so I'm in the same position as Loup.If you know the protocol for informing the Italics of whats going on then I will support it hun.
You can debate Science Vs Spiritual in a good healthy way and I have done so on quite a few occasions and all of us who took part in those debates are still good friends
Unfortunately these people would deny the existence of their own mothers without scientific and genetic evidence to support the claim.
The fact they deny the existence of anything that doesn't fit with their personnal perception of the world and will not even consider doing their own experiments and research on this subject is beyond belief.At least James Randi actually investigates claims that are made although some are questionable he try's which is something these people do not.I feel sorry for those people putting things into peer that these people will jump on.In fact I will not be submitting anything for peer until this has been dealt with and I know romani won't either.
Once word gets round about them the number of entries will go down.THeir variety will also diminish so In the long run if this is left with no intervension then the septic sceptics would win.There are enough bigots in everyday life and I for one come on here to get away from them.
