Froh!
Froh! wie seine Sonnen Fliegen
Durch des Himmels praechtigen Plan,
Laufet, Brueder, eure Bahn,
Freudig, wie ein Held zum Siegen.
Laufet, Brueder, eure Bahn,
Freudig, wie ein Held zum Siegen.
danke schon Beethoven

Something like:
Joyfully as his suns flee,
Through Heavens groovy order,
Run guys, 'on yer bike,
Exhault like a victorious Knight.
Hmmm

Doesnt then go on on to talk about embracing oneanother under the star tent? Or embracing God who is over the star tent, or something? I think it lost something in the rearrangement when Beethoven fit it to music...
hang on....

Seems to make some sort of sense there, but is definitely not sung in strict order....

Well it is pretty late to be making sense of anything.... he says desperately trying to understand binding assays of DNA bound to proteins

Whether it makes sense or not, I dont really care
Singing it with a full choir and orchestra in Greyfriars Kirk in Edinburgh 3 years ago was one of the most amazingly uplifting experiences of my life so far....
Oh, and in case you are wondering, I was listening to the clockwork orange soundtrack until a few minutes ago, which does of course include an interesting early sythnesiser version of Ludvig Vans Glorious 9th... fairly groundbreaking in its day (1972), it actually used synthesisers to try and reproduce the human voice, and indeed the orchestra....

I just wanted to say 'hello' and ...i live in Glasgow, Scotland. I'm new to h2g2 and think it's terrific. I think it could also offer great opportunities for people speaking different languages to communicate, through on-line translation. I speak some German - I used to speak it well but that was many years ago. By chance I discovered GerManiaConnection (by putting a random German word into h2g2's search option). It would be good if GerManiaConnection (and links to other languages, with translation services) had a more significant place h2g2, eg a link on the Front Page. Have a good life.
Regards, Alastair
