I get to have a link? Oooh
Sure that'd be cool but do I have to link back to the muse page as I have no idea how to do that?

Oh, dearheart... just write in your intro this: My Other House is a Musehome
And yes!!! That is all!!!

Thank you, I shall take your word for it but please be aware that it may not appear as Dr EV showed me how to put in a link to one of my articles and I ended up crashing the page for several hours and had to get him to fix it via step by step posts

EEEKKK!!! We can't have that!!! How tragic for you, dear.... just be sure your page is written in ML(you make that selection under your textbox)... You'll then have to begin the text with; and end it with ....
Good luck!!!!

O.K I have now tried every possible variation on the link which my fairy brain can contemplate and none of them will work it just keeps saying something about an illegal start character?

Ok, darling!!! This is good!!! You are in the right place.... This means you need to carefully look at what you have typed...
Should be something like:
Tinkerbell's Space-- Isn't it SPARKLY!??
Tinkerbell Text.
My Other House is a Musehome
Now... the whole line can be ignored(it doesn't have to be there, but do try it if you get comfortable-- tis fun!!!). The following it will give you a blank line between what is placed before and after it. This also isn't necesary, but if you use it, you must CLOSE it with that loverly ... notice how every open command has to be closed!??
Every command also has to start with that < and end with that >
Be careful about your = and quotes, and watch out for using more than one < in a row... << means a mistake in GuideML...
Probably what has happened to you is one of the last three possibilities. I still struggle with them!!! It's rewarding, though, to use GuideML... I continue to experiment with all the things it allows you to do!!!
Good luck!!!
(And please keep asking questions)

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
You really should become a Guru, that is the first time I have ever understood anything related to computers and even more astoundingly the first time I've ever got anything to work...I know it's very basic but look I even have a heading
And I worked out how to get spaces in between my sections
Thank you
Is there other fun stuff you can do as well?

Herrrrmmmm... Guru... I like that title... I may ponder pursuing your suggestion, Tink!!!
I'm happy that I didn't simplify it TOO much for you, and make you feel silly. I think that might be the biggest problem people have with explaining things-- they either don't realize how little the person knows all ready(and how much needs to be explained), or they are scared of insulting their trainee!!!
GuideML used to give me a headache. Right now it's giving me a headache over my Guide Entry on Emily Dickinson(sparked by the H2G2 Literary Society). I'm trying to do links to sites outside h2g2...
This means I have to find the alternative link code. The normal link code, is, you remember, Blahdeblah... but to go outside of h2g2, it's something like Outside link title
Brother.
As far as FUN things to do with your page, I'm still learning. A GREAT teacher is the GuideML Clinic(I put a link on my userpage for my own benefit, finally-- you'll soon learn that putting up links to favorite sites on your userpage makes navigation a breeze)-- http://www.h2g2.com/GuideML-Clinic.
If you find pages you'd like to share with others(sites found on h2g2), the trick I used to place that link in a conversation is no big mystery. I just typed the complete address, as you see it in linkface(underline orangey-- my new term for it is linkface.... hee hee hee).
Hopefully I taught you something you didn't know!!! Tee hee!!!
My link/logos appear on my own page courtesy of researchers who gave me the detailed computer lingo that goes into them... I am looking forward to putting pictures onto my page(there's info on that at the GuideML Clinic as well), but I have to wait until my computer genius sweetheart returns from his trip to Florida...
::going to visit your new and improved userpage!!!!::
::ego is inflated by the Guru suggestion::

H2G2 has a literary society? Can anyone join that? Ooooh
Anyway...I think your instructions were at exactly the right level as I really do (or did ) have no knowledge of how to do anything on here. EV tried to explain some stuff to me the other day and I managed to do one of those in thread links on about the second try but that's all I've learnt
I know what you mean though as I think people tend to assume that because you're on the internet to start with you understand computers so often when I ask for something to be explained I have to really emphasise the fact that I am completely incompetant when it comes to computers and even then they think I'm joking
You should definitely be a guru though as I've had several articles I wanted to turn into guide entries but haven't bothered yet as without any headings or links or anything they looked really feeble... and now the world will finally be able to understand the intricacies of 'The Wombles'

OOOO!!!! I will have to read your guide entries, then!!!
::tries to make a mental note to do this as she runs off to her guitar lesson::
I'm really happy I have helped you, but I don't think I'm reayd to be a Guru(I need to learn how to use pictures, and I'd like to develop some other skills). I was tempted to become a Field Researcher before Guru came to mind(it'll be more work, but a good motivator to develop better h2g2 skills, no!??).... So when I get Christmas Break, I think I'll begin that endeavor...
I'm going to have to find you a link to the H2G2 Literary Society(they are VERY FRIENDLY!!!!)... in the meantime, here's an awesome link to most of the h2g2 clubs... You might find the Literary Society here-- http://www.h2g2.com/A270325
