It's short for "Lucinda, MyRedDice, Martin, Xanthia, myre"... 
{which would be overlong for a username...

I don't seem to get how "Lucinda, MyRedDice, Martin, Xanthia, myre" can be interpolated out of that
I do like the sound of it... et al... sounds like a name of someone the Enterprise might meet.

Hey HHH,
et al is in latin. it means "And Others".
and it does have a nice rolling sound to it. Latin is a nice rolling language.
