It's not always a bad thing to have a little faith... most people really aren't all that horrible, if you treat them with respect. http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/F9598?thread=131088&latest=1 Shall you request the smiley, or shall I? ;-)

Yep - they didn't give permission, they were advised by their lawyers that they *couldn't* restrict publication. They certainly still mind - or at least, Peta does.

Privily, (or as privily as one can, here),

This email thing is concerning.

I would have the screaming heebies if I thought I was prevented from publicising the content of an email sent to me (unless it was covered by a pre-existing confidentiality agreement, as some of the emails I receive are).

But it worries me that the italics will feel even more cornered than they are now, and therefore be even less open in how and what they communicate.

My belief is that they are prevented from telling all about the beeb by the beeb, and that in many respects (especially about moderation for instance) they agree with us, while they have to implement the policies of their employers, and that they are prevented from saying anything about it.

Other things - the banning of LeKZ, the moritorium on pre-election politics - are clearly down to them.

My concern is that we will apply pressure on an unstable point in a volatile situation, and that we will end up with less freedom, and less communication than we have at present.

Slowly, slowly catch ye monkey.

Dunno why I am posting this here - just thinking out loud, really. I may repost this in one of the threads if it seems to follow on from anything else.

Kind regards to Mog and Lucinda, (and Martin, Myre, et al)
