Churchill, my famous cousin and his contempories
Hi,my name is Dave Egginton - formerly of Hinckley, Leics., now residing in Warwick.
My great-grandfather was a Prussian Baron. He married the cousin of one Winston Churchill circa 1900 and took up residence in England. When war broke out in 1914 he was summoned back to Germany by the Kaiser to fight the English but, being almost totally Anglified by the time, he refused. His title and lands were seized by the Kaiser.
The ironic twist in this tale is that he joined the British merchant Navy and, as an officer on the Lusitania, was killed when the ship was torpedoed by the Germans in 1915....:-(
