FOUR VERY FRUSTRATING MONTHS
Posted Nov 7, 2000
Somewhere else in my journal I had mentioned that we had moved. It isn't a dream-house, and we already knew that we would have to work a lot on it. But it has all the things we were looking for:
One largish flat for my parents with separate access to the garden
two small flats for me and my brother each
a large garage and store rooms
a very nice garden to make up for the one my mother had worked upon for 30 years
much easier access to shops
But there was a problem: because of some legalities we had to agree that the previous owners (actually the heirs of the precious owner) first moved out of the large flat (and then even they left their lamps and used one of the rooms for storing the furniture) and later out of the two smaller flats. "Later" became four month of fighting to get the one room ( I was sleeping in a sitting-room crammed with cartons and furniture stapled on each other), listening to their noise, seeing their washing hang over the balcony in front of our windows, of cultural clashes, of our things lying in the garage, of the weather getting unexpectedly colder while we could not get at our winter clothing, of never having hot bathing water because the used it all up, of many things that I can't find the english words to explain. This was very hard on our nerves (not to say on my stomach) because they didn't give a damn what was happening to the house, and every day waiting meant something else getting broken and having to be fixed - and we can't get at it while they are still here!
These last weeks were the worst because their time had run out and they still had made no move to move out! At that time I decided to "get lost" and drop out of the h2g2 social life because I simply couldn't keep up with all the joking around. I was afraid that I would lose my control and write something that might annoy or even insult people - not on purpose but just because I was feeling so bitter.
Things are looking up now - they have started moving and although quite a lot of their possessions are still here, they don't live here anymore. My stomach is feeling a lot better, we have started again to make plans about what we want to do and how to use and decorate the flats. I think in about one week we will be able to start - and that means that I can finally buy a fridge and an oven , absolutely necessary for planing the kitchen
So, I'm back. And I want to thank all the researchers who left messages for me - I'm going to start answering them now. And my greatest thanks to Falern whose steady and undemanding friendship in the last few weeks kept me from falling into that deep dark hole from which there is no return.

A Sad Goodbye
Posted Jul 22, 2000
Some Researchers have taken interest in the fate of my dog Leo during the past weeks.
Leo was taken to his new home outside of Tehran last night, and my mother and I stood in the street crying after him at midnight ...
That is in Real Life. Here in h2g2 I am going to keep Leo forever with me. He will come and go in and out of the forums with me and make his own friends, I hope.

A PROMISE ...

My colleague Shahla A. not only saved my life last week by sharing her lunch of spaghetti with me, but also washed my plate afterwards because I was still too weak to stand.
My eternal gratitude to her.

OH GOD (not THE ALLMIGHTY, but the other one...)

I just had such a fright: I spend over an hour to answer messages (thanks guys) and make postings in the forums, then go to another website and when I come back it seems that nothing I had done has registered in the computer!
Oh god...
Thank Goodness everything is allright again

HURRAY!

We have finally moved!
Unfortunately, the previous owners have not moved out completely, so we are living in weird set-up of unpacked crates and stacked furniture. Even more problematic: I have no space to pack out my computer and set it up; not to talk of upgrading it and finally getting online for a daily dose of H2G2. Well, it seems that the twice weekly sessions in the Internet Cafe have to go on.
