I'd better get on and book too - have you got your ticket? What time do you leave in the evening?

Sho - employed again! Posted Mar 10, 2005
Hi
sorry, I haven't been around for a while
as far as I remember my train was around 8pm.
Tomorrow night I'll check the times...
tell you what, I'll email you my phone number, or you can send me yours and we can talk about this...
The joys of spring - or something like that
You can call me TC Posted Mar 14, 2005
Got mail, now I have the tickets, too!!!!!!!!
Arriving at 11:10 in Koblenz. (A bit earlier than you, I think)
Leave Koblenz at 20:48.
And the connections the chappie in the station looked out for me were quicker and cheaper than what I had found myself.
Wayhay!!

Beatrice Posted Mar 23, 2005
OK Freddy and I hope to join you, if that's OK...
Meet at the train station? 11.30 ish? (better check train times meself!)
The joys of spring - or something like that
You can call me TC Posted Mar 23, 2005
Yay!!
Of course it's OK.
Drop me an e-mail (address on my ps) and I'll send you my mobile phone number - or let me have yours. I will be arriving at the station first, probably and can suss out a cafe where we can all gather. Will then let you all know where I am. Or does anyone know Koblenz station well enough to designate a meeting place beforehand?
If it's nice weather, I may look for a cafe just outside - a little way away from the bustle of the station.

Sho - employed again! Posted Mar 23, 2005
ohhhh I'm very excited.
TC has my phone number, so I think that's enough for now.
I will arrive in Koblenz at 11:16 at platform 8
My departure is at 21:12 (oh, a Rush song...) so that's plenty of time to discover we're all closet axe murderers...
The joys of spring - or something like that
You can call me TC Posted Mar 23, 2005
Actually I need a new - the axe has worn a hole in the old one. Maybe the new one won't be big enough for the axe. (Look out for the Aldi carrier bag)

I'm just off to Practiker.... I'll be bringing my shiny new chainsaw and Dremmel attachments...
right, where shall we meet? by the ticket office? Do we have to wear a rose (white, of course) in our lapel? carry a towel?
I've only ever met one other hootooer (Gwennie) and I went to her house so there was no mistaking her. Unless, of course, she gave me the wrong address and we spent the day with a complete stranger.
You'll recognise me. I can't get the Gruesomes out of the house today, so my much needed trip to the hairdresser is postponed. I will be the one with a Crow's nest instead of a proper hairdo!

You can call me TC Posted Mar 24, 2005
Well, I thought, as I'd arrive first, I'd just settle in a suitable cafe. Then I'd text or phone you all from there and you could join me as you arrive.
As no one knows the station (presumably) we can hardly arrange something like "under the clock" or "at the entrance" as there may be more than one clocks or entrances. And someone might be standing around for ages waiting.
Will check my e-mails at home to see if Lucky or Freddy have mailed me a mobile number.
The joys of spring - or something like that
You can call me TC Posted Mar 24, 2005
And I've never had any problems finding the hootoo people. I know Freddy well enough now (although sitting right near him for his quiz at the Christmas do didn't improve my chances of knowing anything about British 80s pop music), and I know you ladies from photos. It'll work out.

Didn't get to Practiker so no shiny new chainsaw
I don't imagine that Koblenz Bahnhof is that big, but a café sounds good. It's yonks since I've been there, we usually drive.

Now what am I going to do? - won't recognise you if you don't bring a chain saw. Perhaps I should bring one - ours has just been packed away and cleaned and is quite presentable, could pass as my "dress" chain saw.
Joking aside - (who's joking?)
I got an e-mail from Lucky with her mobile number, so now we're all co-ordinated. I hope we don't need to phone each other because of bothersome delays, set-backs or no-shows, now. Just with the good news?
"Hi! I'm here, sitting at the Bahnhofscafé! I'm wearing a red suede jacket and a top hat and drinking cappuccino out of a cracked cup. You'll recognise me by the copy of "hitchhiker's Guide" (first paperback edition, falling apart) on the table next to me. .... Oh, you've found a café, too? Wearing a what? ... Oh, a beige mac and trilby. .... Dark glasses.... Standing by the till? ..Yes I can see someone like that just by the till. Chain saw ... yes, there's something on the floor at his feet. Can't be you, though, that person's talking into his mobile phone.
.... You ARE in Cologne aren't you? ...... Whoops, I thought someone said Cologne. .... Where are you? Koblenz?. Where's that?...
.... .........
??????......
so who's the guy with the chain saw?"
Lucky - I'll send you a text, so you have my number, too. There's something about mobile numbers which seems to make one vulnerable, I'd rather be on the same footing and not at a threatening advantage - me knowing your number, and you not knowing mine seems immoral somehow.
Happy Easter everyone - see you on Tuesday.
PS - Tell RF we won't be needing a quiz.

TC, I know what you mean about the mobile numbers, that's probably worth an entry here... or at least a convo on The Forum.
At this stage I have no idea what I'll be wearing, but I will most likely be carrying a purple/black/lilac rucksack. And I'll be squinting around becasue I'm too vain to wear my glasses. (actually, I'll most likely be wearing hiking trousers - all my other clothes are too big, too wintery or too black. Or in the wash. Or all three.
The joys of spring - or something like that
You can call me TC Posted Mar 26, 2005
Don't worry, judging from past comments, I shall recognise you by quite other attributes.
I'll wait and see what the weather's like, too, before I know what I'm wearing. By then I should have washed and ironed everything, so I'll have a choice.
Am now looking forward to a week of luxurious solitude. Although I spent yesterday lounging in front of the telly - watched at least four films! The DVD recorder conked out or I'd have recorded Sixth Sense and watched that afterwards. We were spoilt for choice - lots of favourites:
Die Hard, Lethal Weapon 2, Evolution, Sixth Sense, My Stepmother Is an Alien, and some silly kids' films. Lots of rubbish - great fun. I watched "Evolution" because I hadn't seen that. Really funny. And Dan Aykroyd is in it. (As he is in "My stepmother is an alien").
While looking up the English titles for those films, I found out that Kim Basinger is older than me. Well I never!

Re: mobile numbers - before the London meet, Recumbentman posted his in one of the threads. Gnomon sent me his by e-mail. As it was, I didn't need either, because I'd met Gnomon and his sister before, so we found each other easily. I was grateful for their numbers, though, especially as I'm a terror for being late, and could easily have lost them.
The time before, summer 2002, I had Bossel's number - we had met several times in Germany. I rang him at least 5 times before I actually located the group. (Much to Zarquon's singing 's amusement!)

Sho - employed again! Posted Mar 26, 2005
of course, that's where the chainsaw would come in handy
but Praktiker was heaving this morning, so I contented myself with bags & bags of earth (in the hope that my flower bed will actually, well, flower this year)
