Teuchter Posted May 2, 2004
I've been reading the Sharpe books in 'historical' order Sho - and knowing that some of them were written out of sequence it's quite easy to spot developments in Cornwell's writing style.
I'm intrigued by the fact that a few books ago, Hakeswill was left for dead in India at the bottom of a pit of venomous snakes. Now he's back at Badajoz (where are we going?) larger than life and twice as nasty. I'm looking forward to his final demise. I suppose the fact that he 'cannot die' explains it.
Sorry - he really doesn't belong in this thread at all!

Cornwell made him sooo horribly ugly and despicable, a really good job. I can't wait to read Sharpe's Tiger. Eventually I'll get there.
We're watching the Clangers now... no in that either.

I've seen the pics of James Marsters getting his head shaved, but I didn't know it was for charity!
The link was posted here a few days ago, I think.
So much to watch on tv tonight, and all at exactly the same time
I've seen the trailer for "Van Helsing" too
Looks great!
And I'm counting the days to seeing Troy!!!!!!!
Oh I wish I could tell you girls about my RLbut I can't.
*muffled mumble*
It's my birthday tomorrow, Sho, I told you I had an early birthday it is a fabulous mirror for my newly-decorated living room. It's just sat in its wrapping now, waiting for my son-in-law to turn up with his drill and attach said mirror to the wall.
It's big & heavy, too heavy for a hammer & picture hook, which is what I *was* going to do...but luckily was advised against it by the buyer-of-the-mirror.

You can call me TC Posted May 3, 2004
Going back to "Love Actually", GB, I agree that there was absolutely NO chemistry between Hugh Grant and his partner in that. Rickmann and Thompson were a class of their own. And my favourite is still Andrew Lincoln who so touchingly played Mark.
Last night I watched "Grosse Pointe Blank" with John Cusack. I only chose it because the films on the other channels didn't seem too brilliant or I'd already seen them, and because Minnie Driver was in it, which meant it promised to be funny, if nothing else.
The chemistry between John Cusack and Minnie Driver was so hot, there was steam coming out the back of the telly. (That might have been my iron, but you get the drift). The story was lousy to non-existant, the whole film you were just on edge, waiting for the two of them to throw each other on the floor or nearest bed or whatever.
Either it was very good acting, or.........
Now I'm a John Cusack fan. He's cute.
Dan Aykroyd was in the film, too, but didn't get to be funny, - at least not in the German dubbed version.
And trailers and making-ofs of Van Helsing really showed Hugh Jackman as a dark handsome stranger.
Ho hum. Going to see Along Came Polly on Wednesday in the original version with my friend.
That's the friend who has got herself a younger man. Only last July we were giggling like schoolgirls about K's new boyfriend and saying "I wonder if she's slept with him yet!" And now she's having his baby in July.

It was or... They dated for a while after meeting on the film.
I really liked him in "High Fidelity". When the film first came out I had my doubts that a very London novel would take the translation to being based in Chicago, so I avoided it. But it was on TV a few months ago and is a very good adaptation. He reminded me a bit of Dylan Moran (Blacks Books).
