Nude kayaking! Sounds like a plan!
I'd have loved to have come to the American meet you all had at Hypatia's home. I can't recall how many of you were there. Did a fellow named Brad turn up?
Do you have pics of the event that you could email to me?
I met Hypatia in London, a bit later on. It was wonderful! We went to the Chelsea Physic Garden.
So the last campfire postings were in 2010.
2010-2013 were somewhat stressful years for the me, dealing with the decline and dying of my parents. They died within a year of each other, almost to the day, in Jan 2011 and Jan 2012.
I'm on the other side of it now, good to think about possums and nude kayaking. heheh.

Hypatia and her bearded cousins... They showed me how to make and fire s potato cannon...powered by hairspray or any other volatile spay and fired by batteries creating an arc within the firing chamber.
I used to pack a potato into school bus exhaust pipes, creating first sluggish performance and then a big bang...
Let me dig into the archives...

I have a friend who lives in Arkansas a few hours from Webb City, Missouri. We often visit for the 4th of July...I've been to see Hypatia twice in Webb City. Once to chat and cook halibut for her dinner. Once for H2G2 event July 4th.
The attendees were an interesting group...Xantief and Spy were two that I talked to the most.
There were two very young and nerdy young men from England. They argued constantly and loudly about a SciFi movie during the lovely fireworks display, drawing glares and muttered comments from other viewers who would have preferred concentrating on the rockets..,
Hypatia was somewhat taken aback when Xantief pitched his tent in her back yard...but she was a good hostess;;;

If you look around post #1943 in "off to a wet start". you get a contemporaneous lengthy discussion of the event...things come back like Bagpuss...July 4, 2006...

Splendid! Its all coming back to me now! I'll check. Spy! I remember Spy!
Hypatia was a great hostess. I wonder does she ever come back here to h2g2? Let's try to lure her ... Hullo Hyp! We're talking about you!

I remember the photos you sent of your home that were very surreal...were you using any special software?
I making a bunch of cookies today...My neighbor is a WWII refugee from Poland. Her relatives are peasants. Her parents were sent to Germany to work on farms. She makes great cookies from scratch...I'm using a mix...

Hypatia still has the eyeballs next to her name on her old posts in this thread, but she hasn't posted since 2014...I know the "who's logged in" feature hasn't worked correctly in donkey years...apparently it is carrying a lot of ghosts who were never logged out...

Evening boss!
Really? I sent surreal photos of our home? I don't remember that, but it sounds very likely. .
No, I didn't have special software, and still don't. Wouldn't know how to work it.
I probably turned the camera upside down or something. My first digital camera was a Ricoh, I would have had around this time. I was so addicted to it, I took pics of everything and anything, usually on a strange setting, because I didn't understand the menu.
I found a setting called Text Mode, that didn't work for photographing text documents, but I used it to take pics. They came out sort of stark black and white, like diagrams, or pen and ink drawings.
mmm yes please! cookies!

Ah! The ghostly eyeballs!
Funny thing, when you opened up the Bluejay conversation, the Researcher U2006 that you said was Underguide had eyeballs beside his/her name. I thought they were lurking, but didn't want to be reintroduced.
I just checked. The U2006 eyeballs have gone away now.
Now you say Hypatia still has eyeballs beside her name. How extraordinary. The ghostly eyeballs indeed. Logged in forever.
This is a very peculiar conversation. You have to be a longtime member of h2g2 to make any sense of it at all.

The researcher's name is U2006...his or her researcher number is u1781133...very strange to see ghostly eyeballs on the first post of this thread...

In May I have buried my mother and my younger sister...they didn't die from COVID... being back on H2G2 helps to divert my attention from reality...
Sister's funeral was in a small room with about 50 present. Only two of us wore masks. The preacher started out by saying, "Don't look down on others because they are wearing masks"...We were offered the opportunity to "Come to Jesus" many times...
Things are looking up...I'm planning blockbuster banana bread muffins today with chocolate chips, walnut pieces, AND raisins...going with three bananas instead of two...

Your younger sister also?? This must be very recent. What a time you've had. Thoughts with you, my friend.
Blockbuster banana bread muffins!!!! Yay! And yes please.

A lot of soul-searching going on over at the Daydream Corral...
off topic...outside the box...in a world where everyone is guilty, the only crime is getting caught...I don't know why I said that...consciousness stream veers out of control...
A quiet Monday morning...scrambled eggs, Italian sausage, taco sauce, coffee, and muffins...
I'm looking at my old articles: crisp, clear, interesting, well-organized...a long time ago with a much younger brain...I'm daunted...
Sloe Gin Fizz?
Phred Firecloud Posted May 25, 2020
My buddies and I get into our cars and we convoy out of town...it's about a 20-minute drive and we can pick up Nashville on the AM radio when the skywaves are right...the sponsor is White Rose Petroleum Jelly...the DJ makes lots of jokes about it and suggests ordering it by the barrel...
The roadside tavern serves underage kids ..I order a Sloe Gin Fizz...we play pool...I have several...we drive home...
That was the last time I tasted Sloe Gin...1957?

heheh The Daydream Corral. I like it.
Good to search the soul. Hah! That's where I put the key! I've searched the entire flat, even the fridge, last resort was to search my soul.
Key?? what key??
Quite good that, what I just wrote, enigmatic, meaningful yet completely meaningless, I think in the rewrite though I'll put the key in the fridge. Under the cheese.
Ah yes, s'cuse me sir but your writing is still crisp, clear, interesting and well organised. Can I be you please? heheh.
Oh I checked your blog, you went to the airplane museum in Tucson Az! So we sat gazing into dreamspace in the Cup Cafe, Hotel Congress, you collected data for amazing articles about the planes.
Sloe Gin Fizz?
cactuscafe Posted May 25, 2020
heheh. Nice writing.
1957?
I've never tried sloe gin. Is it time to try? Actually I don't like gin. I'm a brandy girl.
