Titania (gone for lunch)

Thank you for posting in kelli's journal - I sometimes worry that I've misinterpreted postings and also that I might not be able to express my thoughts exactly as I wish to in my response, since English is a foreign language to me but, judging from your posting, I hopefully got it right this time.

Hey Ti smiley - smiley

I figures since my uncle's going through the bad side of redundancies it was worth a comment. And I admit, I had to read Kelli's post a couple of times to figure out whether she was in or out of a job. It's difficult to tell sometimes when its written, because most of us write the way we speak, and you don't always get the correct tone - sarcasm being the prime example of this.

I'm glad Kelli is staying on but it's a horrible situation and while she says she doesn't feel guilty, it's a natural way to feel if only because the awkwardness sort of pushes it on you.

And if it helps, I would never have thought you were having problems expressing yourself using English. You were perfectly understandable but I completely understand how difficult it can be! And this is coming from a native Scot, who has been speaking/writing/understand in English her whole life...though I'm dyslexic, so not always that well smiley - winkeye

Well, trying to express myself in a foreign language has taught me loads, apart from misunderstanding and being misunderstood. Emotions is the trickiest area.

And as a member of the h2g2 Guardian Angels, I think you might appreciate that we have a Guardian Angel of Creative Spelling - that's how he chose to interpret his dyslexia.

Emotion is tricky online, in all languages. I remember when I started on h2g2, before the initial move to the BBC, you were allowed to speak in any language you wished, which always made welcoming newbies entertaining. But then when we moved to the beeb and the moderators were added and everyone went English for ease of moderating. Luckily we have lots of lovely smilies to bridge the gap smiley - magic

smiley - angelGuardian Angel of Creative Spelling, that is an excellent interpretation of dyslexia and an excellent thing to be a Guardian of...I think I was Patron Saint of Lucky Charms...but for the life of me I can't remember why! I was 14/15 when I became one so I'm sure there was a good reason...I think I turned in my wings when I left all those moons ago but if I were to think again, I'd go for Guardian Angel of Babbling Sentences, seeing I do have a tendency to babble smiley - biggrin
