Me . . .
Hello to all who are interested. I'm Laurie. I'm still not sure exactly what to do with a web-site of my own, but thanks for checking it out anyway.
For all those who care about such things -- I AM CANADIAN. (But I promise not to rant!) I'm not thirty yet. I may choose to remain that way indefinitely. I work for an airline in Toronto (no, I'm not a flight attendant). I've lived in T.O. for a couple of years now, and really love the city.
I'm an avid bookworm. I have an ecclectic book collection, but have an undeniable weakness for fantasy. My list of favorite fantasy authours (in addition, of course, to Douglas Adams) includes Guy Gavriel Kay, Robin Wayne Bailey, Connie Willis, Robert Jordan, George R.R. Martin, Raymond Feist and Patricia McKillip. I'm also a big fan of Timothy Findley, Tom Robbins, Salman Rushdie, A.S. Byatt, Wole Soyinka, Chaucer, Shakespeare, Fritjof Capra, and Roddy Doyle. My favorite new book is Suzanne Vega's "The Passionate Eye".
I'm also a music lover. I listen mostly to 'new rock' or 'alternative' or whatever the label-of-the-week for that range of music is now. I'm a huge jazz fan, too. I worked in a jazz club for awhile, and now it's in my blood. With music, as long as it isn't country or Shania/Celine/Mariah/Whitney I'm usually okay.
I don't cook, and have no interest in learning. As far as I'm concerned, when left to fend for myself, chocolate IS an adequate source of vitamins and protein, and you can keep your 8 glasses of water . . . I'll have coffee double-double, thank you.
My computer skills are decidedly limited. But so is the capacity of my computer to do anything, so I guess it's a good match. I have a mild addiction to Minesweeper which I'm working on. All the big fancy kill-everything-in-sight games (it's so real!!!<<sorry there has to be at least one inside joke>>) don't run very well on my little computer.
What else? Oh, yeah. I love to travel. I've been through most of Western Canada, south as far as Washington State, and north as far as Whitehorse. I've lived in Saskatchewan, and have grown to love big sky. If you've never lived on prairie, you'll have trouble understanding exactly what I mean by that. I've been in Ontario for a few years now, and have travelled through much of the southern region. I've also travelled a few times to the Netherlands. A beautiful, people-friendly country with lots of flowers and baffling toilets. Now that I'm working with the airline, I'm hoping to expand my travelling experience. Any suggestions are more than welcome!

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
