Hey Keith, poet, (yes, secret out, I love your poems), its the spiky cactus here. We met on the AWW, a few weeks back. Sorry I got spiky, Just writing to say smiley - sorry, and thankyou. Things got a bit close to an emotional edge, and, thanks to your insights, I realised I was inadvertently writing about things I didn't want to write about.

Also I realised, finally, after years of sweating it out,(cor honestly, how long does it take, I am slow), that I'm not a writer, which is a good thing to realise at my time of life, like too close to 60. smiley - rofl, and I think you picked up on that.

I use words and love to make word paintings, mainly from dream visions, but that doesn't make me a writer, it makes me a word painter. Writing is a craft, a way of communicating through words, and that's the vocation I don't have -the communication. I am in my own word-world, and happier that way. smiley - rofl. The pattern of moment.

And, in fact, since that crazy time when we met, I am really inspired, now I have really let go of having to be a writer.

So, thanks for the catalyst, pal, and write on and of course I think you are interesting, and be good to have a drink sometime smiley - ale, line an online drink, know what I mean, but its OK also if you don't, and onward!

Oh, and I should of said : "No need to apologise at all because communicating online can be a tricky business at the best of times. So much gets lost in translation so to speak."

I'm trying to get some new poems finished at the moment and I'm having trouble with them, trouble getting the flow and the meaning going. It's not much use having something flowing if no one knows what your talking about is there.

Cheers Keith

Hey guys, hope you find what you're looking for. It is important for some artists to have a particular kind of challenge, I think. Well, in fact I know, because I have many friends who work in the art world, some professional, and I have followed their journeys.

You remind me of surfers, waiting for the big wave. heheh. smiley - surfer, getting fed up with the little waves.

Not my way, I love the company of other artists, but the drive comes from within. I used to draw all the time, then I started using words to make the drawings. An expression from my own way of being and seeing, and have found contentment. A middle aged luxury, heheh. Some artists shy away from contentment, they say it ruins their drive. Discuss. smiley - rofl. Not me. I love it. Writing as graphic design. Writing as medicine, a sanity mix, a lifelong dance with the pattern of moment, a final flip, a frenzied prayer.

Whatever it is, it is always there for me. A friend.

I think language is a miracle, whatever level.

Keith, are you internet-dependent, or can you access other kinds of writing circles, like poetry readings or anything?

I wonder if you are attracted to poetry readings? I think poetry is designed to be read aloud. You think?

I performed my work for a while. My husband is a musician, so he played the musical version of the poem while I was reading. Like Michael McClure and Ray Manzarek. heheh. I wish. You ever heard those two performing together? Words and music. Amazing.

Anyway,it was great for a while, but I couldn't do it professionally. Nothing like the challenge of a audience staring at you.

Warm fuzziness eh? nice word texture. OK, let's see. Can you describe the texture of the challenge that you are looking for?

What's my texture. I'd say something like .

Good luck smiley - goodluck with your journey.

Hello CC, I hope you had a good Chrissy, I'm still enjoying mine.
Haven't heard of the two guys you mentioned and I know very little about American poetry as indeed I know only cursory things about the US full stop, it's a place that's never really interested me, I'm much more an Anglophile.

Performance poetry doesn't interest me either, I just like fiddling with words and every know and again they fit together in a way I like.
I'm no artist and I know nonesmiley - erm, dig holes for a living and build stonewalls.

I'll look in on the Post and see what's happening.
