Red Dragon as a film?

Post 1

R.G.W - And at no point during this outing did I run the risk of being cool... [temporarily or possibly permanently missing]

Really, I heard Hopkins had a breakdown and has refused to make any more? Or is that just a myth, as he seems to say that after each movie?
Well, I saw Silence of the Lambs last night and it was really good, but I have to say that I prefered the books.
I've been de-sensitised by tv and films so the gore didn't bother me. Actually I thought there wasn't enoughsmiley - devil! Just kidding...
The style of directing was completely different for the 2 films, while Ridley Scott went for the gore factor in Hannibal the other director encouraged the watcher to use their imagination. The acting was better in The Silence of the Lambs but I think in Hannibal with a better script Antony Hopkins would have well.
The ending of Hannibal was completely different from the book's which was much better if slightly implausable. They never went into much detail in the film about what was happening and why. What happened just happened and that's all there was to it.
Stick to the book smiley - smiley!
