Alright, alright, I get the point. I'll put their new CD on my (ever increasing) list of albums that I've been told that I "Must" have.
By the way, what do you think of Muse? Also did you see that "50 heaviest rock albums of all time" article in Q. It disturbed me slightly that I own about three of them, have "greatest hits" albums by another couple of bands on the it and have about another three of the albums on "the list (see above.)" I never really considered myself a metal fan until now. Strange.

I don't read Q that much, it's too heavy (in a literal weight sense), it costs too much and they don't like King Adora.
Ooh, and I've just had my hair cut, so it's just past my shoulders now. And there should DEFINITELY be a picture of me in the next issue of Broken Violin Fanzine. *Pause for plug* There's also loads of interviews in it, Claire went mad this time, so there's interviews with Feeder, Elbow, Ash, King Adora, Guano Apes and a couple more that I can't really remember. It's an all-new A4 format as well, cos it's the last issue for a while, maybe ever .
Oh well. I don't think of myself as a metal fan either, but it's like any type of music: you can tell the good stuff from the bad stuff. And whatever genre you care to put them in, Limp Bizkit are BAD stuff.

I'm not really a metal fan at all. (although I do like Rage Against the machine.) I do respect good metal bands though (Metallica, Slayer, Black Sabbath) even though I don't really like them and I hate all this new crap (especially Fred's Limps**t as we call them and the ridiculously unshocking Slipknot)
The albums I had that were on the list were the Holy Bible by the Manics, In Utero by Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, Guns n Roses, Led Zepplin, the pixies etc. Not particularly heavy bands (with the exception of NIN) but just particuarly heavy albums.

Well I've got the Manics, Pixies and Nirvana, so maybe.
I can't hear Metallica now without thinking of a fantastic moment in our last school panto (Jack & the Beanstalk. Incidentally, fellow researcher and my best mate Esther (aka. Sarah to the outside world) played a rather wonderful Joey-from-Friends-esque Jack). In Scene 2, the giant's kitchen scene, there were four 'alternative' fairies: Fairy Drop-Out (a hippy: crap outfit, permanently stoned for real), Fairy Punk (thank god we intervened with that costume otherwise Mrs Hamilton would have had her dressed in an orange baggy T-shirt and a pink skirt), Fairy Heavy-Metal and Fairy Goth (Chloe: made her own outfit and wings as part of her Higher Art project). Anyway, the curtains open on the scene with Fairy Heavy-Metal miming into a wooden spoon to 'The More I See', Chloe down on her knees with an axe pretending it's a guitar (note the 'hilarious' pun on axe which not one member of the audience got), Fairy Punk playing drums with another two wooden spoons, and Fairy Drop-Out blowing bubbles (?!) and choking on all the dry ice we used. I was Assistant Director and responsible for most of it, and I wish we'd had a video camera because it looked fantastic (better than five first years in pink tutus miming along to the Spice Girls 'Stop' anyway. I had to teach them the dance routine to that. Please don't ask how I knew the routine).
Well, enough about that. If my judgement's correct (hasn't happened yet, but hey, there's a first time for everything) then you should be doing or have done exams. If you've done them then I hope they weren't too crushing, and if you've still to do them then good luck!

Hey, my photo's on the Broken Violin website! Heehee!
I'm really getting quite obsessive about this, aren't I? Oh well. And I've had my hair cut since then as well. Damn.

Awwwww!
You suited the long hair (although I don't know what you look like now because I've only ever seen you in the Broken Violin pic.)
The Pixies are cool. I already had "Death to the Pixies" but I decided to instead buy their albums. I just bought Surfer Rosa (Come on Pilgrim inclusive) today.
Have you bought "Amnesiac" yet? I think that "Pyramid Song," "I might be wrong," "Knives out," "Dollars and cents" and "Life in a glasshouse" are all great. "You and whose army?" "Pact like sardines in a crushd tin box" and "Morning Bell" are not bad either.
"Pull/Pulk revolving doors" is absolute cack though, "Hunting Bears" is a bit pointless and "Like Spinning Plates" is slightly too experimental. Worth a tenner easily though. Even worth £13 if you go anywhere that has the special limited edition (a giant hardback version of the "lyric" book with the CD in the library card slot at the front.) I got it in Fopp on Byers road.
The Fairy show thing sounds quite smart. A couple of my friends work as stage techies. I see an evil plan forming.
I may be in the QM sometime tommorrow if you are about. I'd like to meet you sometime. If not, there's a chance that I may become a Freashers helper next year. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

I don't think there's much chance of me being in the QMU any time soon bcos I have to work every day now. Damn, etc.
Haven't bought Amnesiac yet, I'm saving up for Discworld books (only 30 to go!) People can buy me CDs for my birthday, that's always more helpful.
I don't really look that much different with shorter hair cos it's not that much shorter. Just neater, generally.
I've just had the horrific realisation that King Adora are going to do a signing in Glasgow for their next single (Friday Night Explodes), and it's probably going to be released at the start of August, so i'm probably going to be in Lanzarote. Damn it! If i'm lucky it could be on my birthday though, cos then I might get free kisses.
I'll see you during Freshers week anyway. My mum doesn't actually know that freshers week exists, so she's going to get a shock

Hmm... Fun.
I'm sure you can't wait to tell her. I hope that this Freshers week is a good one. I enjoyed last year but it was supposedly below standard. The guy who's running the QM's this year is potentially mentally ill though so it should be fun.
I guess we're even then. I'm still to get into King Adora and you're still to get into Discworld. I suggest you start with Guards Guards! It's the first one I read.
I might just buy the album on your recommendation so it better be good...
Amnesiac is quite wierd. It's a mix of some of the best songs they've ever written with some of the worst "things" (definately not songs, more like aural attacks) as well. Worth buying though, even if just for Pyramid song and I might be wrong.

I've read loads of Discworld books actually. At the moment, I own Equal Rites, Mort, Pyramids, Moving Pictures, Reaper Man, Lords and Ladies and Maskerade, and Terry Pratchett's Discworld Quizbook: The Unseen University Challenge . In addition, I've read The Colour Of Magic, Wyrd Sisters, Witches Abroad, Small Gods and Soul Music (Soul Music is the BEST!) I read Truckers as well but it's not as good as the Discworld stuff, being more kiddie.
Pyramid song grew on me. I hated it to start with but I quite like it now. And the King Adora album is fabulous if you like the thought of the Pixies crossed with Suede, all songs about two and a half minutes long. And the CD-ROM video bits are fantastic... sorry, I'm obsessing again .
