Off to Sheffield

Look out Yorkshire! It's Allan & Linzi's wedding day. I'm finally ready, after 3 changes of outfits (don't ask) and am now off to pick up Ian, scoot over to Nettleton to park up then we're being chauffeured by my sister's husband the wedding is at 12 noon so
think of us then
We're all staying overnight and heading back during the predicted ex-hurricane headed our way tomorrow, so that should be fun
I'm a little nervous about Goldie, as I've given a key to non-person Caroline, Ian's daughter, she'll be popping round tonight to feed Goldie & clean the litter tray with a repeat performance tomorrow morning. She's never cared for a cat or any pet so we've both got our fingers crossed nothing goes wrong.
I've packed my camera so just and there'll be images to share as fast as you can say "Look out Yorkshire, GB's on her way!"

Medical miracle
Posted Mar 29, 2014
I'm sharing this for those of my friends not in the UK and not part of any social media sites: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-26784669
Even the BBC newsreaders struggled to maintain their composure when reporting on this lady. Imagine being profoundly deaf from birth then reaching 39 years of age, having a cochlear implant and finally being able to hear. I said to Ian last night, imagine the music she'll be playing. I'd recommend Over the Rainbow by Eva Cassidy and The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face by Roberta Flack, some harp music then the whole back catalogue of The Beatles. Ian said he'd play her some Bob Dylan.
I've always appreciated what I have and today I'm even more thankful that I've had all my senses for almost 60 years. My daughter HFH on social media yesterday posted: "We tend to forget that happiness doesn't come as a result of getting something we don't have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have."

New Year plans (GB)
Posted Dec 31, 2013
It's New Year's Eve and I'm going to be busy all day. I've to hit the shops in St Peter's Ave at 9am, as I'm meeting Ian at the cinema at 9.45. After the film we're popping into my Mum's, hopefully to coincide with my sister who's fetching sandwiches. Then we're off to the Old Library to visit Ian's Mum, then down the road to Ian's daughter's to visit his youngest grandson Lucas. Then we're coming back here for a meal of sweet & sour chicken (with rice for me, chips for him) and a wine for him and a Malibu for me
Plenty to choose from on the box tonight, to bring in the New Year
All the best for 2014 to all my friends and readers, thanks for your company this year and looking forward to more of the same in 2014 and
Ann/Galaxy Babe

Christmas plans (GB)
Posted Dec 19, 2013
I now have confirmation that Ian has accepted Laura's offer of Christmas Dinner at hers so I'm really looking forward to Christmas Day now. Mum will be at my sister's so this will be a stressless and worry-free day for me.
Yesterday doing Mum's shopping I bought all the ingredients required to make a couple of desserts (hardly anyone likes in my family and our Christmas cake is usually
). I'll be making a lemon meringue pie and a trifle to take for afters. I'm also buying a
Christmas cake from my local bakery, chocolate sponge shaped like a Christmas tree all covered in chocolate and with Xmassey decorations
I'm really feeling in a festive mood now, I've even dug out my Christmas cds so I can listen to them in the car.
All the best to everyone
