Hi GB
I hope things are better now.

I guess even though you think it normal to drag yourself out when ill to help another, others don't think that is normal. In fact when they see you up and about, they will even assume that you cannot be as ill as them. Thus disappointments and confusions ensure.

If none of that makes sense, please put it down to less than ones hours sleep last night!

I've finished the anti-biotics but still don't feel *right* my throat still feels like it needs clearing.

I'm on a liquid-only diet as of breakfast this morning as tomorrow I have a colonoscopy. In an hour I have to prepare and take the first henna sachetsmiley - ermoh dear, I'm really looking forward to Wednesday when all this will be over.

Good luck for tomorrow, I shall be thinking of you. smiley - cuddle

When you can eat again maybe you need to make lots of fresh ginger and honey drinks. I recently got Rochester Ginger from Holland and Barratt, and it really works. Its very strong, and I only have a couple of shots of it, but I have had the healthiest winter ever for the whole of my life. With all the painkillers and pain, that is a real result, I was expecting to be laid low all winter.

I really really recommend this ginger drink, please don't tell me you don't like ginger?!

Oo, I got a walking stick yesterday and it really helped. I couldn't use the wheelchair as I couldn't sit down, but I am very pleased about the walking stick.

Honestly this drink is so good, its worth trying anyway, if you can bear it. Its very strong so you only need a mouthful once or twice a day. Then have something nicer. I have suffered from month long colds, and bronchitus etc for years, this is the first year I havn't so I really believe in this stuff.

I found it quite difficult getting a walking stick, as Boots stick's were under recall. I didn't know where to look, so I reackon that your Dad would be happy to see his help others, either at a care home, or a charity shop or ask Help the Aged if they can use them. Mine cost £20 which I know is a lot for elderly people struggling with council tax, so I bet you could do something positive with them. smiley - cuddle

I laughed at the henna, senna thing. I didn't question it as I am so tired and typing is such a struggle! Anyway, tiredness doesn't stop me from sending you my good wishes. smiley - magic

I'll give it a trysmiley - okalthough this is the first winter I've really ailed, I suspect it's the bereavement has knocked me for six. Mum won't dispose of the walking sticks, she'll put them to good use smiley - smiley

I knew it was Senna, as I always remember the character in Carry On Cleo, played by Sheila Hancock, the Brit back home living in a cave - Senna Pod.smiley - laugh

I'm not really here

We still have all my Grandad's walking sticks, and he died in the early 90s. My nan kept them, and although she's been gone nearly two years they are one of those things we can't get rid of.

I understand that, we have all Moonglums grand dads walking sticks. Unfortunately I couldn't use them, I need to put a lot of weight on them to be able to walk and the fancy handles hurt my hand too much. They look good on the wall though, as does his pipe collection.

My Mum cannot understand why we as anti-smokers want to have pipes on our wall. Its not pipes, its memories!

Can you hand in the walking sticks to the local hospital or nearest Physio department? Your GP surgery or local district nurses may have a van service from the hospital for lab stuff and they may be able to take sticks, crutches, Zimmers and other stuff on the way back. Ask them - phone first as there may be certain days for collection.

The local Physio Department has a cupboard which seems to breed Zimmer frames. Every time they open it it seems that there are more which is useful as they hand out a lot.smiley - biggrin
