A couple of year's worth of update

Hi all,
I guess alot of you are angry with me.
You have a good reason to be.
I don't blame you.
I do apologise.

I think I'm back though. Was gone for a few years (except for a peek or two).
If It takes me too long to return, complaints are welcom at [email protected] as email or google talk messages/conversation.

Again, I will give an update of the last year+ that passed since I was here, and boy was it a busy year+.
Again, you can skip it by going past the smiley - hugs.

I guess I finished the last update when I got back from Scandinavia. I was there with my parents and my best friend - Yakir. When we got back to Israel, Yakir got sick again (Leukemia - Blood cancer).

A long time ago I decided I will study medicine one day, but never acted on it. On January I decided it was time I went to uni.

Getting into med school is not easy in Israel - I certainly didn't have the grades for it.
I went to the business of getting a good psychometric (Like the american SATs) grade - which ment studying about 11 hours a day for 3 1/2 months.

On the second month for this task, after 5 years of fighting the disease - Yakir died. I was left the only one in the world that got my jokes - I was left alone - Lost a brother.

I did get the high psych grade though, but still wasn't able to get into med school because of my school grades (which were good, but not of a high enough percentile to get into med school.

I went to uni as a Biology major.
Now - there's an option to try getting into med school based on academic acheivement in the uni, but you need a year's worth of courses for that, meaning, you can only apply after a year an a half in uni, and get accepted after two years. I'm too olf for this... with my grey hairs and all.

Since I did some math in the open university, and after all, I am a computer programmer, and a bonefied geek, I decided to do a year's worth of university in one semester - allowing me to get into the next year's.

I started searching for courses to do and ended up with a devestatingly busy week - having 2 and sometimes 3 classes at the same time (like harmiony in Harry Potter). I did all of the classes of 1st year biology (inc. extra points) and also took 3rd year and grad courses in Computer science and Physics - only those I was sure I already know the material for.

I had to get top grades on everything - couldn't miss a single course, and had to get it on the first test term - because grades had to be submitted before the second test term.

Also, in order to keep sain, I skipped all the physics classes and went to dance at the high academy for dance and music which is near the university (actuall, on the same campus).

After LOTS of hard work - I was successfull. and this year I started med school in Hadassa Jerusalem - which is a great hospital.

Since I did all those courses last year, I have verry few this year. I was planning to take some Computer science and 2nd year Med courses but I was offered a job at a great company (MobilEye) that makes computer vision products for the autormotive industry, so I am working there part time.

Parallel to all of this, I was (am) working for another company - which I hope will allow me to work with them throughout my degree.

This make my current life extremely busy - and my girlfriend (of 6 months) is complaining about it.

I still dance and teach dance a bit (only once a week).
I still do some photography work.
I'm still enjoying what I do, and life in general.
I decided to come back on h2g2 now - I missed you all.

in more recent news:
I Got back from reserve duty this week.
I'm sick.
My knee hurts.
I'm tired.
I have alot of work.
I complain too much.

Ahlan again!

So, are (were?) you here in Hebrew U, then? Do you live in Jerusalem now?

I'm adding you to my Friends' List, anyway, whether you like it or not. smiley - tongueout

Thanks for the update - I really don't know how you managed all that but I guess losing your best friend is all the motivation you needed to get through it all.

Dancer! smiley - biggrin I was just thinking about you the other day, wondering what had happened to you.

I'm sorry for the loss of your friend, smiley - rose but it's great that you've turned that into something positive in your life. The brother of a friend of mine has Leukemia. Happily he's very healthy at the moment, but one knows he could always get worse.

I hope you are back for real but I could really understand it if you're not, you're a very busy Dancer these days! smiley - bigeyes

Hadassa Ein Karem, right?
Such a beautiful neighbourhood - but unfortunately too out of the way for me to go there very often...

I study in Mt. Scopus, and since I live in French Hill, that works out pretty good for me. smiley - smiley

Sounds like it could be that. I know the conditions for their exam outfit nearly caused me to have some kind of heart-attack/stroke combo smiley - yikes

Gruesome #1 did Grade 1, #2 did primary. Next year no exams because they'll do a performance, then they will miss out a grade (so it will be as though they moved up a grade per year)

Their teacher is soooo strict. it's a shock for the German kids, I know. But she's a friend of mine, and since I think it's good for the gruesomes... we see eye to eye.

How are you finding it?

I danced for 2 years, and they didn't do any exams. Later in the 2nd year I was so much taller and bigger than the others, it was decided, quite rightfully, that I shouldn't go on with it. Did some modern stuff, but in my heart always liked the ballet better...smiley - blush
