Welcome,
Greetings from Flanders. That's, for now, the Dutch (Flemish) speaking part of Belgium.
Many years ago I saw a small fragment of A. Douglas's "Hitchhickers Guide to the Universe" on TV. It was on my first visit to the USA and although it was wierd it undoubtfully was the only interesting program broadcasted there at that time. (I hadn't discovered "Discovery Cannel" yet.)
The idea of the fish in the ear translating all languages (blub blub blub) I never forgot. Probably because my English wasn't that good at that age and founding myself among all those Americans who didn't really sound like the English taught in class made we long for such a tool.
Back in Flanders, and years later when 'computers' where being introduced to the public libraries, I searched for the book and found them all. They are amazing and nearly superb. Then, after some years in the drain and after having been one of the pioneer-users of the Net in Flanders, AltaVista came along and that's how I ended up here.
It's a very good initiative, both practically and commercially, to make this service available.
Presently I'm (well, I should) studying to become (is) a teacher in ethical, social and religious matters. This from the viewpoint of Islam to which I converted about 3 years ago. After my exams I'm open to discuss such issues.
