Greetings, Salutations, and WELCOME!
New to the Web?? REALLY?? well that's GREAT!! you're doing quite well-- most people don't even get their page started on their first day! 
Well, I just popped in to bring you some brownies as a pagewarming present...
Let me introduce myself.
I'm St. Zax- one of the New Guardian Angels. I'm not an Official Greeter or anything like that (those are our ACEs.. assistant community editors.. one of them will be by soon.. they're really great- EVER so helpful!!), but I am on quite a bit and love to help out... hence the sainthood! Well, if you need any help at all- and i mean ANY- just reply to this post, and let me know! i'll do whatever i can.. it's SO much fun!! (really, it's pathetic! i get SO excited when someone actually WANTS some help!! )

first of all, thank you very much for your instant reply and your offer to help me on any topic, i really do appreciate that.
so here´s my first question: does the h2g2-homepage and all the pages behind it really need that long to build up, or is it a problem with my computer? (e.g.: to reply to your message, i clicked on " reply " and had to wait two-three minutes until this page turned up)

Wow! Great! You replied!!
The Network was REALLY slow to load yesterday, cuz we had over 80 people signed on, and at one point we actually had 100! (Woohoo!)(usually we only have 30 or so at a time)
Apparently, when there are a lot of people on, it really slows down the h2g2 servers... i'm still not sure where the great influx came from.. maybe there was an ad on tv or something? who knows... anyway- that's the scoop!
over at the GuideML clinic, you can get the code for seeing who else is on h2g2- it's a small popup window that opens with a constantly updating list of who's signed on to the network... you can add the code to your homepage (let me know if you'd like any tips) and use it any time you want.. really helps explain when it get so slow! LOL
(if you don't want to bother with the code yet, you can also find the link on my page- it's called "who else can't sleep"- feel free to make use of it any time!)

yes i´m doing quite well.
perhaps yesterday´s great influx came from an article in the german newspaper "süddeutsche zeitung". they wrote about douglas adams, promoting H2G2 in berlin. that might be one reason.
apart from that today´s entry was really quick, which brings much more joy than having to wait for a reaction!!
you speak of a code for seeing who else is on H2G2, which i could find over in the guideML clinic: problem: where is this clinic?
i´d be very intersted in getting to know all the other people who meet on this page.
and someday i might need a little help in working on my own page with HTML or guideML; i already read some interesting articles about it, but until now, i never really had to with it.
