Hello there Also Ran, thank you for posting to a couple my threads. I decided to come and say hello here on your page. Like my dinofish namesake, I'm usually hiding on h2g2 but I have followed what you are up to these days.

I'm glad your move went well and I know you are happy by the sea. It sounds lovely! I don't know Folkestone all that well. When the girls were little we used to visit all the little sandy bays up on the north Kent coast, places like Minnis Bay, Joss Bay and so on. We were only down your side if we went on the ferry.

You asked about my girls. Sunshine (21), has finished her degree in forensic science but can't really get work until she learns to drive (who wants a scene of crime officer who has to arrive by bus!) so she's got a non graduate job for now so that she can pay for lessons. Moonlight (18) begins her drama degree soon. She did all her pre degree A level exams one or two years early and after she applied and auditioned in early 2007 they awarded her the university place for this time last year. However, she didn't want to go when she was under 18 (and miss out on the social side) so she deferred and has been on a gap year. She leaves home at the end of this month.

I have changed jobs too, it's early days, and there's a lot to take in, but I think it's going to work out well. I'm also going to start on my Masters as it's about time I did!

Dear smiley - bluefish
How lovely to hear from you.
and what wonderful news about the girls.

They both seem so happy and such a credit to you.

very interested in your Masters. I finished mine in 1980 and got a cum for it. I was very chuffed. Now I hear that all the research owrk that I did in South Africa has been transferred to a very prestigious Research Centre in the Orient. I reckon that has put an extra ten years on my life. !! I was thrilled.

so now I think I shall have to do some writing on my absolute favourite methodogology, Phenomenology. The criticism against it have been so vicious that I was quite asahmed to say it was my preferred methodology. However, times they are a changing and it appears to be quite respectable now even if it is descriptive and not presctiptive.!

With much affection#
