Zarquon's Singing Fish! Started conversation Jul 14, 2008
Dear Christiane,
I wondered why I hadn't heard from you on my conversations, and then I thought to check and you're not subscribed. Please add me to you list of friends!
Little and I had a lovely weekend with my friend from Bristol and her daughter, who's grown up into a fine young woman, still at university and waiting to do her masters degree. We went kiting and that was fun.
I'm having behavioural challenges with him. I know you've been there on this one, and more or less written the book.

Hi Christiane,
Thanks for adding me. I've had another difficult day. Not quite so bad as a couple of weeks ago, but bidding fair to be as bad. I think I've learned from the last experience. K has been demanding money which I don't have. To be fair, he did offer to do chores for the money, but if I don't have it, I don't have it - and he doesn't appear to understand that I can't make it appear from no-where.

My so dear ZSF.
Is he too young to go out and do chores to earn money? Like gardening or newspaper rounds or things like that?
He obviouskly want to be more independent. try and speak to his counsellor and se if s/he thinks it is a good idea.
Loving thoughts with you.

Dear Christiane,
I wondered about doing chores for other people too. He hates gardening and I suggested a newspaper round to him yesterday. He has to be at school really early (8,30am) and said there was no way he could be up as early as that.
I wonder what he could do that he would be happy with. Maybe he could wash cars. Trouble is, that at the moment, his work is quite slapdash, and if he's earning money from it, the customer would expect a decent job. Needs thinking about. It's not impossible. I think it would be really good to get him thinking that he can earn his own money.

Very dear ZSF,
so glad you like the idea. = he could do an evening paper round!!
Maybe you think his work is slapdash, but perhaps he would take pride in doing it for someone else. He would soon learn if they person refused to pay him. !! And you could tell him how much he is contributing to the upkeep of the two of you. !!Keep well and do not allow yourself to get upset. !!. Bite your lip, your tongue anything. It actually works if one keeps a reproof bottled up inside. It adtually only increases your BP! So try Yoga!!
Much affection

Hi Christiane,
'Maybe you think his work is slapdash, but perhaps he would take pride in doing it for someone else. He would soon learn if they person refused to pay him.' Yes!
'And you could tell him how much he is contributing to the upkeep of the two of you. ' Oh, I'm not sure that would be the casse - I think he would want to keep it all.
I did fairly well with the last meltdown. I managed not to say stuff and to ignore the behaviour as much as possible. Only when he threatened to hit me with something (OK it was only a bit balloon, but he was hitting very hard), did I make it clear he was not going to be allowed to hurt - and he stopped.
Yoga - yes - I need to do some stretching!!
Keep well - much

My dear friend,
I see that I did not reply to your last posting.
I hope you had a happy holiday/ How were your Mum and Dad?
It is quite amazing how living on the channel has improved my health. I really feel so well here and never care if I do not touch the ground. !!
My new hearing aids are also quite splendid.
Has K. started at his new school yet? Did he enjoy the holiday@ I am sure that he did. K. is due to go to the Centre tomorrow for the first time. I hope that he enjoys it.
Keep well my
with much affection

My dear Christiane,
I've had two holidays since my last posting - a wet and windy camping holiday and a much longer holiday at my parents. I discovered that if I travelled late at night, it cost about half the peak-time travel and allowed me to stay longer. Not as wet and definitely not as windly, but mostly overcast - we had one really nice day in total. Little enjoyed himself. I taught him to play cards - always a useful skill - gin rummy and German whist.
Both mum and dad are well, although my dad gets tired if we go out for a longish time.
Since we got back, little has had a birthday and a couple of awkward moments. He almost set my microwave on fire trying to make popcorn yesterday and he burnt my front room carpet today.
